Have you seen what Ashley has said about Edited Underguide Entries, sprout? Presumably since the processes will eventually be the same the author will receive an email when the piece is picked.

Definitely gets my 'fantasy pick'. Like Nira no Kamo I hate sheep, and for similar reasons.

twisted minds think alike, as the saying goes, and this one graced AggGag issue 13.

I knew i recognised it, but couldn't understand why there was no thread...

why was there no thread?

Darn it. Oh well, as long as it has found a home somewhere.

There's more where that came from, but using the search engine does mean that it requires a bit of detective work to see if something has been used elsewhere.

Spiff - if I understand right, a piece that's been agg/gagged should have a thread hanging off it? That doesn't seem to be true for Fiction Central, unfortunately.

Anyway - I'm enjoying my searching - there's a lot of hay out there, but every now and then you find a perfectly formed needle...

Well, i don't think that UG selection needs to take into account whether it's already been in AggGag, or indeed in The Post generally.

I'd understood, in fact, that it should be a natural progression for an entry that has been well received in the aww to go on to feature in The Post.

the fact that it already got highlighted for one week over a year ago shouldn't discount it, should it?

anyway, this is one of the main drawbacks, in my view, of the whole principle of 'publishing' such pieces in a one-off format like weekly newspaper. Even with archives, it is a brief moment of glory followed by total darkness. Ok, there are archives, but that doesn't help when you're using the search engine.

I guess this brings us back to the whole thing of including a word in the title to indicate that it is a UG selection...

I agree - I think some of the material is certainly worth a second week in the sun. I had got the impression that stuff that had already been used was off limits, but if not, great.

I personally can see no reason not to use former AGG/AGG/CAC entries in the UG. Not sure about the Post ones. I guess we need to discuss that.
