I'm sure their removal isn't on the cards anyway, but just so that it can't be said that there's no demand for them, I'd like to say that I use most of them very often, searching for people, for words in conversations, or just for topics.
They're very useful and they work really well, so I hope (additions aside) that we won't see any changes to the way they operate.
thanx

I use the search engine a lot, and would really like that beefed up.
It would be nice to have a "search all conversations attached to this entry" option - especially for searching through Peer Review as a Scout.
I'd also like to be able to search through just the conversations in "My Conversations".
I'd like to be able to do a search only on article titles, if that meant it was quicker.
I'd like to have the AltaVista conventions of + (must be included) and - (exclude articles containing...) modifiers to search parameters.
The alphabetical index can be very slow at busy periods (though it has got better) - I'd like to be able to type in a starting string so that, for instance, "Wal" might return "Wal-Mart", "Wales" and "Walthamstow".
It might also be nice to be able to order the results in date order rather than "goodness of fit", as an option.

I mentioned this in the technical or design feedback pages already but it would be good to see how many hits you got for a particular search and to have the number of pages and links to them ie
12.3.465 ->Highlighting 3 when you are on that page

what about a drop down menu on the search box, like some other sites have. for instance drop down 'search in' with choices being 'edited entries' 'un-edited entries' 'my conversations' 'all conversations' and so on, and then enter what you're searching for. like the drop down box for the bbc main site, only specifically for the h2g2 search.
