Fresh orange juice, Swiv? - if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, you're probably sweating IRL, too .....

Sorry - only formal attire here! But in the case of the gels that means a light summer dress, so you should be fine.
How do you like mine? Cool blue chiffon with rosettes at the left shoulder and right hip. Large straw hat, decorated with white freesias and more blue rosettes.

Hello, bonjour!
I am just back from a quick holiday in western France (all praise to budget airlines)! It was lovely and hot there (though everyone has said it has been hot here too, but I don't believe them, it's been cold since I got off the plane this afternoon), and I now have a good idea for how the French do afternoon tea..
Their meals go on for atleast an hour, sometimes three. Wine is always drunk with food, and it is perfectly acceptable for there to be two open bottles of wine on the table at the same time. Cheese is in addition to, not in replace of a dessert. You have antipasti as well as an entree, which is a drink and some nibbles (nuts, etc..) as a warm up to eating real food. There is an endless supply of food. There is an endless supply of drink.
Here's to a a nice afternoon tea; bon appetit!
(Don't worry I'm not fully converted to French cusine, you can't get a decent pot of tea over there!)

Where can't you have more than one bottle on the table at once then?

I've always thought it an unspoken rule that you don't open the second bottle until the first is finished. It seemed a bit extravagant to have more than one open at a time (we even had two different reds open at one point).

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I was just passing down the river on my punt, when I came across this delightful scene. May I join you? _So_ nice to meet you all. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Richard, but all my dearest chums call me Kipper. I'm afraid I am rather informally dressed, in my boat shoes, white flannel trousers and University blazer, and straw boater - I do hope you don't mind. *pauses to mop brow with hankerchief* It's frightfully warm today. I don't suppose I could trouble you for a glass of lemon cordial?

A glass of lemon cordial .. The LEAST one can do for such a dapper young man. Care for a light game of croquet?

Too hot for tennis. I'll be delighted to teach you. (Check out the link in the entry if you are serious - it really does explain how to play)
Let me show you how to hold the mallet.....

Thank-you my dear, you are too kind. Would you mind awfully if I removed my jacket first though? I shan't roll my sleeves up though, after all we have only just been introduced...
