Wrong weekend. I'd have been able to get there for some of the time had it been the following weekend but not that particular weekend. Oh well never mind some other time.

And don't forget the spring onion to pin to your lapel. (Anybody else agree that's an appropriate means of recognising each other, inspired by Tinkerbell's vegetable fixation and a lot easier than dressing in character for most of us...?)

I can't make up my mind whether or not to paint a spring onion on my clogs or just pin one to my shawl. Maybe I could wear one in my hair?

It's not a vegetable fixation... I also always read origins as oranges and that's clearly a fruit

Tries to remember if there's anywhere to get a spring onion on the way through the trafford centre...
Tries also to remember how to get there by public transport from his parents (well I could drive but then I wouldn't be able to have a refreshing beverage and I'd have to remember where I put the car!)

Family life having changed somewhat over the past week I can now offer beds (read: bed, camp bed, sofa bed) to three people, with the advantage of transport assuming everyone can fit into MeAndyG's Fiat Cinquacento (sp?) I hope.

I have two spare beds in Leeds (one double, one single) and floor space. But it does mean leaving the party early and sober enough to catch the last train home.

I'm thinking in terms of booking into a hotel and making a weekend of it. Does anyone know of a decent but inexpensive hotel in Manchester, near the venue for the meet?

Since 4 August is in the middle of the summer, there might be accommodation at the universities. I'll investigate this.

It might be a better solution than risking missing the train back to Leeds. If they have the same system as in many halls of residence in other universities we might be able to take over a whole flat for several of us which would be fun.

I'm also checking out some of the local hotels, there is one that offers accomodation by the room, one of the larger chains, that may do for 2/3 friends! Will have a list soon & will post and address for details.

Thanks, Granny! I'll be coming to the meet by myself, so if you can find a hotel whose rates for single rooms aren't too punitive, that'd be very handy!

That's one advantage of it being Saturday! Rates are usually cheaper.

Will let you know when I've got some options together.

Can dormant researchers come? I'm doing bits of researching and bits of roving, but precious little writing so don't want to feel like an imposter! Would be good to see all these faces of h2g2 legend, though
