Can Something come from Nothing?
Pandora Posted Mar 13, 2000
Hello Sookie,
I'm back...I know, you did'nt know I was gone. (sniff,sniff)
I HAD to tell you. Your Star Trek joke made me laugh! Not falling on
the floor type of laugh, more like a chuckle. But you do have a funny
bone, don't you?
Keep Smiling! Pandora

An intriguing development to the subject matter -
Does the generation of amusement (such as in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) count as another example of where something can be made from nothing?
The idea, or the abstract thought, which sparked the storywriters flash of brilliance could be "something" in some peoples books, but the entity itself can not be isolated, it is simply a pattern of electrical signals, so surely it must be "nothing". And from such a nothing comes a great comedy.

On an entirly different note, I'm not sure whether I prefer Zander or Spike. Zander's more a realist and understands and comprehends the world in such a magnificient light, though Spike does have some great lines and has got a decent accent.
Please tell me what is so "cute" about Angel. Is cuteness skin deep? Or are people just sheep to the Buffy loving Angel thing?
Trees??

1. What crime could a mime do that could possibly warrant an arrest? If he's doing something REALLY bad then the cops would just shoot him, thus keeping him silent. In which case, he not only has the right to remain silent, he does not have the right not to remain silent ie. alive.
2. Verbal communication wasn't expressive enough even for the cavemen (hence cavemen 'paintings') and we have a wealth of communication other than verbal communication such as art, music and body language. Everything a man says in only always wrong, because it is not accompained by some king of action, or a more expressive form of communication (or so I guess, I am no woman)
Sorry with all this stuff following up the mimes and trees, but if Mr Wizard can put his 2cents in, the Glisher Operative will too.
Trees??
Pandora Posted Mar 15, 2000
I thought it was kind of you to put your two cents in...however, after
the crack about the woman, where do I send you your change?
Have you ever been tormented by a mime? My episode was in front of
aprox. 4,000 people!!! Of course being who I am...the mime was the one who came out embarrassed when all was said and done...I was'nt going to let him NOT get the last word in! Bye for now, Pandora

Here's my theory:
Look at the smallest structures we know of, atomic constituents. Their arrangement is somewhat similar to stellar groupings. stellar groupings are reminiscent of galactic structures ,galactic clusters and so on. The universe is, logically, by extrapolation, a very small part of something much, much bigger which in turn is part of something else even larger. Beginning and end become irrelevant after a while as the percieved difference in time structures of each "layer" in relation to the other up or down are so close to infinite that finding the beginning or end becomes more a matter of establishing if "bigness" or "littleness" actually have limits. I'll never know. Nor will you. Disappointing really. Them's the breaks. Mr Adams may be right in his theory of the universe being replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable if anyone ever figures out what it's all about. This could all be a simulation running on an immense super computer in a dimension beyond our understanding. It could also all be a figment of mine or your imaginations. I recommend we both seek professional help immediately.

Of course!?! the most obvious example is love...
Regarding mimes and other non-human entities
Sookie (a.k.a Hipskitch) Posted Mar 19, 2000
I think we find, that the reason a mime would be arrested is for simply being a mime in the first place, no?
I'm going to go modify my homepage a little, and we can start a discussion there relating to mimes and mimes alone.
Well, we could actually expand it to all street performers, like those robot-people who make that irritating wheezy noise, or the statues that jump out and grab you with you don't put change in their hat...

Savannah...thank you for the tip on the fellow who might help me with my computer problems. Proudly she said, (just before the next screw up)
"I managed to figure things out for myself"!!!
I'm actually having dreams about MIMES! AHHHHH!!! Has anyone an idea
how to rid myself of Mimemares??? Do you know of a pill or spray or something? Mime Away? Perhaps??? See...here's a good example of something from nothing...a few weeks ago I'd NEVER have a mime in my head. Now they'er even in my sleep! What if I have a bit too much
bubbely & awaken next to a mime!!! AHHHHHH!!!!
Bye, from a wee bit freaked out Pandora

Love is all you need. Here try this. It's called a love cookie. Check out the home of Alicat. You may find you have something in common with her. She's my ambasidor of love.
Love is all you need.
Can something come from nothing?? eh? eh? can it then??
Of course it can!!!!! It's completely simple. Love comes from nothing. it's an emotion, it actually doesn't exist in physical form but it's very very real.
Can Something come from Nothing?
Pandora Posted Mar 24, 2000
I don't know what a love cookie is?!? Sounds like something I might like though!
Hate to go here...however, love IS physical. All emotions react with
chemicals in our bodies. Perfect example is love. The hypothalmus kicks in...the blood pressure increases. Various physical properties come into play. Ever hear of (those wonderous things) endorphines? I
have stayed beautifully high on love, uh, er, okay...several times. And of course many hypochondriacs have symptoms that manifest themselves into (sometimes very serious) illness.
Now you've had a peek into my serious side. I'll try not to make a habit of it!

Ah yes, love.
Where would we be without love?
Probably in court.
Alot.

Just think about that question for a moment. It takes no brains at all to to come to the simple answer that there is no such thing as nothing. Of course something can come from nothing because nothing is something!

Yo Fluffy The Vampire Slayer and Fairly Strange ACE!!!!!!!! Hellooooooo!!!!!! You like Buffy!!!!!!!! Where are you or have you got Sky? I'm watching the BBC who's like a year behind and we're only about to see the first episode of Series 3. We were watching Becoming Part 2 last night and Spike was sooooo funny. When he was carrying Dru, he went pass Angel and Buffy, who were fighting, he stops and says in a sad voice "he's gonna kill her", then walks off as if it doesn't matter! Another time last night, actually I can't remember it now, but when Buffy was about to be arrested for the second time, they were just about to go back to her house when he says, "wait, I've just gotta kill this guy first", Buffy then coughs sharply and they walk off. It just goes to show that having an English accent amongst Americans is cool! And it really suits Spike. I could never imagine him as an American anyway, or Buffy as English. Cool innit?!

FairlyStrange Posted Mar 26, 2000
Hang close, Katsy (a.k.a. Esti).....the best is yet to come!!!!!
I live in the southern US, and you're about 2 seasons behind!!!!
Spike is the most entertaining member of the cast, and he won't go away...forever!
That's all I'll tell you for now! I wouldn't want to spoil what's coming!

Sookie has a valid bit of info on his home page! Why am I the only one
who's checked it out?!? are you all too pooped from all those little
blue pills? Maybe you ALL have sore fingers? I do wish some of you would read what Sookie has written. Nobody has said anything about what I wrote on my home page. I know it sounds made up...but with the
strange workings of my mind, I have had Mimemares! Guess nobody cares,
oh well...I'll try not to whine about it.
I've thought of something else that MAY have come from nothing, at least nothing much...blue cheese! Think of it...go backwords from how
it came to be. What do ya' get? NOTHING! I'm going to go make a nice salad and load it w/blue cheese. Keep up the good work Sookie! And
as a mental health professional I think it might be a good idea for
SOME of us to take a course in anger management. I think we know who we are. Getting all mad over NOTHING! Tisk, tisk. Relax & enjoy eachother...we'll get there. Calm, slow, deep, easy breathing...You're
ALL so wise! Keep Cool, Pandora

I guess you can make the same argument about all molds. By the way, I have been to Sookie's homepage, and I found it quite interesting.

Pandora Posted Apr 2, 2000
alicat...I was very glad that you read Sookie's Page & found it interesting! I hope more of us check it out. It's just a click away!!
___Not just molds...I think you can safely say the same about most anything. I'm prepared to be scolded by all the angry folks out there.
However, at this point in time I choose to talk silliness. When I do
become serious I think you'll find some of my writting worth reading.
I've just had such a complicated life...I hate to 'get started'!! I'm
having a bit of fun with this topic. If THAT's a crime, may all the
Mimes in the world infest my woods! Actually, I think I have enough
room to accomidate them ALL. Then I could go about pushing them over
& tell you if they make a sound! Smile, it's so becoming!!! Pandora
P.S.
I've only had Mac for three months, still much to learn. At this point in time I'm not able to even give you a wink! Off I go to feed my mold
addiction!
