Not descended from the Kings as such, though no doubt some were - I suppose they just developed in the same way as later aristocracies - war leaders and/or very rich people come to occupy a higher social plane than ordinary folk.
"All in all, I think this entry is good enough to be picked now."
I hope so!

By the way, when do scouts make their picks? Are they staggered?

...depends on how much they've been drinking.

We each get two picks a month, spaced out throughout the calendar.

Still being patient.
Not very good at it though, I've been waiting for my Amnesty Ineternational entry to make the Front Page for at least 3 weeks, but I know there's a big backlog.

3 weeks isn't that long - it can take up to a month for a sub to get through their allocated entries, and then it has to wait for its turn

The sub's finished with it though! It's been in the "returned from sub editor" section on coming up for ages!
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
