I think John Peel might be the dangerous subversive. Look for the track by 'What Happens Next?'

Re that John Peel track listing: bear in mind that that particular song title is listed on a BBC website.

Is that a song title, Zarniroop? Or were the band in a state of dishabille?

Ormondroyd Posted Apr 7, 2001
It is a song title, Amy, and the band's name begins with "F" and rhymes with "luck"!
There's also a band on the playlist called Kind Of Like Spitting. I guess they'd be forbidden under the h2g2 House Rules too...

Right, in case any of you who read this forum have not noticed the links elsewhere, please check out the discussions on "h2g2 and the UK General Election" at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A528103
Someone has decided that the BBC might be viewed as presenting an unbalanced view on the Election if they allow ANY DISCUSSION of the Election by h2g2 researchers.
"For the duration of the General Election, we have decided to make h2g2 a General-Election-free zone. Any Conversations or Guide Entries that talk about the General Election will be removed by the Moderators..."
There is a link to another forum on BBC called the Great Debate where you may discuss the Election.
Can they no longer recognize the difference between their in-house journalists and h2g2 researchers? Or do they think readers are so daft they will be unable to tell the difference between real BBC news and one of us clowns spouting off on h2g2 about a politician? This is the height of absurdity. Please recognize the censorship inherent in this "General-Election-free zone" and call it out.

And then they came for the vulgar, and I was not vulgar, so I did nothing.

Zarniroop - you can now mention song titles and small amounts of copyrighted lyrics and other material, under the "fair use" provisions of the UK Copyright laws. Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F63887?thread=102746, post 11 Ormondroyd - swearwords are allowed on the BBC (and h2g2) when editorially justified - just as I've got an edited entry with sh*t in uncensored. The consistency would appear to be there in this case (though clearly not in others).
