Looks good... however, you should remove the "what's that then" at the beginning and change the bold titles to headers (GuideML: </HEADER&gtsmiley - winkeye

Right - a bit more smiley - smiley

I suspect someone is going to ask you to change all those "s into 's instead - might as well be me!

'Millenium Green' - two 'n's in Millennium? (Thought I'd better ask, since it's a place-name and you never know smiley - winkeye)

Footnote 2 - >>1990's<< --> no apostrophe and >>independant<< --> 'independent'

Apart from the superfluous linebreaks after the Headers it looks fine to me!

Anyone else spot anything? I'm tempted to Recommend this but I'll wait a bit in case there's more.

Hi Rockhound smiley - smiley

Good one smiley - ok Really your first? Well done.

Just a couple of fairly pedantic points:

The footnotes are pretty long. If you look at other Entries, the footnotes are usually one sentence and brief clarification of a word or point in the text. I wonder whether there's some way of including the information the Gumstool Hill footnote into the text: is part of the history of the place, so wouldn't go amiss as a para all on its own in that section?

The hospital info seems a bit out of place - and perhaps there's another entire Entry there? smiley - winkeye

Highgrove footnote is fine.

The header "How do I go?" might read more easily as "How Do I Get There?"

Other than that smiley - ok

I did wonder about the footnotes. Will try and re-write sometime in the next couple of days (once all the reports are out of the way at work smiley - winkeye )

Yeah, I'll shorten the hospital bit and bung the rest of it sideways until I can flesh out that particular story.

You can shorten the Highgrove House footnote by merely saying:

Highgrove House: Although not usually open to the public, it's possible to apply for a tour round the gardens.
(I think it's fairly obvious that it's a private house)

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Very nice entry. The only comment I have to make is about this: "on the late May Bank Holiday". The official name for that bank holiday is Spring Bank Holiday http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/bankhol.htm (I note with some interest that they can't bring themselves to call the Early May Holiday what it really is - Mayday. Too Communist perhaps?), although it's also known as Whitsun or Whit Monday.

How about this: 'on Spring Bank HolidayThe last Monday in May, which is also known as Whitsuntide and which coincides with the half-term holiday of most English schools'? I've said 'English' rather than British because I don't know if the holidays are the same in Scotland, Wales and NI, and 'most schools' because I *do* know that in some parts of England, certain holidays are held during adjacent weeks. Got caught out like that one week when I was working in Accrington.

"I think it's fairly obvious that it's a private house"

You'd think so, but the number of times I got asked by the grokels "where's the car park for Highgrove and how much are the tickets?" when I used to work in one of the newsagents in town still haunts me smiley - winkeye
Along with wanting to know if Charles et al had been in town for their shopping that morning.

Plus the Front gates to the property are on a nasty bend on the main road in Doughton, and the rear access (actually used most of the time) isn't highly marked it was more of a heads-up that you shouldn't go looking for it.

Best way to see the house without getting security clearance or run over on the road: find a day when the St Mary's church has the tower open for visits and go up. Charles Hamilton Yatman who built Highgrove planted an avenue of trees framing the church from the main windows of the house, after he paid for the spire to be rebuilt in memory of members of his family (1870's I think??? I maybe wrong).

Right, better get on with those edits...
