I think the classic question in this situation in sci-fi shows is "How do you eat or drink?"

does it form a complete sphere including under the ground you walk on....

no, it's just a dome, but if there were holes in the ground it would compensate, makes walking down stairs a bit tricky but oh well and if i want to eat i can just turn it off... or use this atom rearragment device!
