so am I to take it that making the statement "Americans are pig headed morons" does not constitute a racil slur and is acceptable on this board? Or further that they have no problem with somebody making the statements like "the fascist that they are"?

Are you referring to a specific instance of activity by someone? If you want to complain about somebody's behaviour, you should use the complaint button on the postings which are relevant to bring them to the attention of the staff.

I did, they said it was within the guide lines. that is why I am wondering just where the guide line is. Would it be acceptable for me to say some entire nationality were a bunch of idiots? It seems that way from the reply I got.

Personally I am all in favour of free speech. I think it is better if when a person believes somebody else is wrong in their opinion that they use the tools of reason and debate to try and change that opinion rather than the tools of censorship to hide it.

Paulie, if you are unhappy with the Moderator's decision complain about it by replying to the e-mail. That will go to the Editors of this page. Probably the best way to deal with this.
Could you provide a link to where you saw that statement? smiley - smiley
Thanks.

This is good advice, paulie. If you disagree with the decision, then reply to the email that you received, as we can't discuss individual cases on site.

Americans are part of a nationality and a culture, not a race: so saying that americans are morons wouldn't be a racial slur. It could conceivably be offensive or trollish, though, depending on context.

racial, cultural, to me there is little difference. I will not belabor the point though. I will just have to accept that in this arena anybody can say anything they want to about Americans. It does seem a bit unfair, and I wonder if the "freedom of speech" theory would hold up if I were knocking somebody based solely on where they were born. I really don't feel inclined to dispove anybody's narrow minded assumptions. I guess I will just hang around a bit longer and see if the anti-American attitude is such that it will make my participation uncomfortable. At any rate, should I decide I won't be a whipping post, it'll just be one less pig headed moron American with which you all have to deal.
