Can I spit if a fly goes in my mouth?

Don't close your mouth. The fly will leave on it's own accord. Because that is what flies do...fly. Surely your mouth is not large enought to intice a creature of flight to stay indefinatly.

I have to concur. It is clearly a matter of national (or individual?) security, which precludes all extraterritoriality a housefly might have. Furthermore, if said housefly's behaviour can be construed as suspicious, it may be necessary to detain him indefinitely (presumably in some place other than the mouth)

Of course, if the old lady hadn't swallowed the fly in the first place, that chain of terrible events would never have followed. If she had chewed on it first,maybe she would have survived. The solution to the problem, then, is to chew the fly well before swallowing it (that's if you would rather eat a fly than spit it out)

Since neither you or the fly are in the physical environs of h2g2, it seems a little unlikely you will get charged...maybe if you went into the offices, should they exist. In which case spitting the fly into the toilet would be the best option, I'd wager, assuming the fly is dead. Hopefully no-one will complain.

As for the old lady, it *really* goes to prove, don't send others to do your dirty work. Better to either a. attempt to digest the fly in your stomach and risk indigestion or b. erm, vomit it up, preferably not all over the floor. Neither of course pleasant options, but sometimes, chewing ain't one of 'em.

one time i spit out an earwig that had fallen into my glass of wine, then went into my mouth when i took a sip. (gulp) thank goodness i wasn't on hootoo then.

No thoughts for a while so i thought i'd add a new idea.
This could be dangerous but inhaling (a small amount) of say, a fly killer would kill the fly and opening your mouth towards the ground would cause the removal of said problem fly.
Now i won't get suspended for spitting but for voluntarily inhalling dangerous gases
