Entry: The Quakers - A4920167
Author: jhutcher - U1822618
Ok This is a comprehensive description of Quaker history and Practice... it includes a link to information about the Quaker testimonies (which i haven't repeated), but also a look at some of there practices.
One Quaker thread still exists but its crap and makes us sound Amish (and its not edited)
Another religious one i know... but be kind... it was this specific topic that made me become a researcher.

Very nice one.
It ends a bit abruptly, however, mentioning the Shakers for the first time (who? what? when? huh?). A nice way to end an Entry is to give an outlook, like "Are there any views or statistics (number of new members) about the future of Quakerism?"
Also you mention in the beginning of the Entry that it will be primarily about the English Quakers, and yet you write a lot about the American Quakers. Also, since you state that, is there any significant difference between Quakers in Britain and Quakers elsewhere?

Perhaps modify your sentence: 'which are the ones this entry relates to' > which is the predominant focus of this Entry.
Hence you will be able to get away with saying s'thing about the American Quakers as well.
(Haven't read your Entry yet though;. I was just picking up on Hell's comment)

'as such have mostly uniformed practices'. > as such have mostly uniform practices.
(Otherwise it means that they wear a uniform - which is not what I think you meant).

'The Religious Society of Friends (as the Quakers are known)' > The Religious Society of Friends (as the Quakers are FORMALLY known),

'It was once easy to see who was and wasn’t a Quaker. And today this is reflected in the choice by many Quakers t avoid branded clothing'. >
It was once easy to see who was and wasn’t a Quaker; and today this is reflected in the choice by many Quakers TO avoid branded clothing. (i.e. Don't start a sentence with 'And'. Also a typo)
Nice Entry!

I would also search through and see if there are any more links I could make to other EG Entries.
Words/phrases I would search for include: Church (of England), mustard, Eucharist...

'Shakers did stem form Quakerism, but maintains celibacy of there members, as such there are only 3 surviving members left'. >
Shakers did stem form Quakerism, but maintain (i.e. no 's') celibacy of THEIR members, AND SO there are only 3 surviving members left.
(Celibacy is also a word you may be able to link from).

This is a nice overview of The Quakers.
Living in Pennsylvania, I've only ever met two Quaker families. But in describing their faith, it sounded exactly like your entry describes.
You might want to consider changing the entry title to 'The Religious Society of Friends - The Quakers'. Just my .
A very interesting read. It gets a bit uneven in places, but overall a very nice entry!

Ref Hell's comment about 'Shakers', it might be best to explain in a footnote what a 'Shaker' is - or perhaps give an external link to s'thing like this:

Introduction: "Catholicism into there faith" > their
History: (end of 1st para) "where as a more accurate" > whereas
(next para) "where called various names" > were
should blasphemy be capitalised?
(3rd para) the description of William Penn should be a subordinate sentence, in comma parnethesese
Eastern should be capitalised
The footnote that ends the paragraph would be better placed after the first terming it as "The Quaker state" earlier, also it should be "there" not "here"
Under famous Quakers, the final Fox's should be a) without an apostrophe and b) without the semi-colon before and as it ends the list.
The ending sentence should perhaps go after the first sentence and before the list.
(5th para) why is "peace testimony" in square brackets :S
"found there mass support" > their
"some do when they felt" > I know your talking about the past, bt they still exist so surely "feel"
"on the front line whilst" > while (apparently whilst is archaic *shrugs*)
(2nd para of Quakers Believe) is God in everyone called pantheism? Could drop it in there
(Quaker Worship) "some may even sing out load" > loud (I'm sure)
there's a capitalisation on children a line or so from the end of the 1st para
(2nd para) "who shake hands as a sign of peace, and are followed by the rest of the meeting." I don't understand, just me or shud this be further explained/reworded?
"majority that is sort" > sought?
(3rd para) marriage: "there intentions" > their
(Structure) should there not be a colon instead of full stop before the list?
Afterwards you put a comma before "or"
(last para of Structure) "Some Quakers are called termed" :S forgot u wrote it?
If its no longer the case should it not be "Some Quakers were called/termed"?
(Misconceptions end of first para) "t" > "to" dunno about the And sentence starter either
(2nd para) "other than happen to share" > they happen to, or happening? Also, aren't they both Christian?
(last ever para) "there members" > their
Agree with above that some explanation or link is required for Shakers. Other than that its certainly informative and nicely spread out, I don't know enough to suggest what else you could add so I guess I'll leave it and just say the content is enough, just the few lil grammer checks needed.
Should those two ending links be left just to the referenced entries at the side? (move it down underneath if this is a typo)

Oh and incidentally, footnotes have to go after the words, not after pucntuation. I'm with you, I think they look better after the punctuation but its the in-house style so we must adhere to it I'm afraid.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

thanks, sorry i hadn't time to do everything everyone asks, but i leave this in the trusted hands of the editorial team to prune and improve as they see fit.
It was this topic that inspired me to join the research team after seening a particularly poor unedited entry on the topic, so i am particularly happy about this.
