Very nice. I'm trying to think if there is anything else to add, but I think you got all the essentials in. It certainly was a cool game though, wasn't it?

I suppose I could tell you which sets I found recently when rummaging in my mum and dad's attic!!!
My favourites have to be the World Cup '78 pack and the British Soccer Stars set of 1977! smiley - smiley

They don't make games like they used to, eh? smiley - winkeye

My favourites were the NASA futuristic air- and spacecraft and trucks 'n' lorries sets. I still can't say 'Mack' or 'Kenworth' without grinning like an idiot. smiley - biggrin

It kinda shows that the Magic: the Gathering and Pokémon card games aren't a thoroughly novel phenomenon...

Has anyone ever tried the 'crazy' version of 'Trumps? Where 2 or more packs are mixed together for extra hilarity value? And you find yourself trying to bluff how many cylinders Bryan Robson's got, or how many career test wickets the NASA RingWing superloader took. Or someone with a really tall central defender thinking he's got the round won, saying 'height: 6'6"' only for someone else to say '54 metres'. Smashing. smiley - smiley

Hi Mickey Thomas' Right Foot,

We really loved this entry - you've chosen an excellent topic. However, we can't help feeling that there is more to say on the topic of Top Trumps, so we'd like to move this one over to the Writing Workshop so that others can contribute and make this a really comprehensive entry. See you there smiley - smiley

Maybe a good start, to move away from a potentially overly-nostalgic tone, might be to draw attention to the whole craze of Pokémon and Magic: the Gathering trading card games that are very much in vogue at the moment, and how their precursor (ie Trumps) had much the same hold on previous generations of kids.

I'm kinda interested in taking up the backwork on this entry and getting it back into the Edited Guide (probably via Collaborative). Any objections?

Master B - you still have first refusal on this, but if you don't want it I'm going to pick it up!

Eh? What? I don't remember saying I wanted this.smiley - biggrin

Erm...I'm still quite interested, but I don't have the time at the minute. You can have it, as long as I can have a sneaky preview before it goes back into PR.smiley - winkeye
