MTRF,
You're going to be "sin-binned" for failing to put the title of your article in the title of this thread. Sorry, but it's enough of a nightmare tracking stuff through Peer Review even when everyone DOES follow the rules
Anyway, before you create a new thread to re-propose this piece ask yourself:
Have I really explained to, say, an Israeli or a Cameroonian how this game works, at a pace they could follow?
Have I covered this topic reasonably fully, or are there forever going to be people coming along saying: "oh yes, but we played with the European Supercars (or whatever) series"? [Hint: you could go over to the page of someone like Ashley (http://www.h2g2.com/U276), or the "Contribute" page (http://www.h2g2.com/Contribute), and suggest it as a "Call for Entries" - then we can collect the lot in one go]
Have I structured the entry the best way I can, so the ideas flow logically, eg from what it is, through a bit of history, to how you play, to where you can get the cards?
Have I made sure the entry has "the voice of authority" (ie is in the 3rd person), rather than being a simple anecdote about my schooldays?
It's a great topic, I remember these cards too - with a bit more digging in your memory, and maybe some background research on the 'Net, it would be just the sort of thing the Editors love - they were once kids too, believe it or not
