Well 2 lb seems small compared to 8 lb in the first week...

Am going to have a good week this week though, catching up on the things I need - am not teaching so am getting lots of exercise every day and sleeping loads. Feeling miles better already smiley - ok

Ah, you seem to be where I was last week. Feeling damn disappointed if I didn't lose a Large amount, and being far too over-sensitive about food: we had a BBQ here in work, I asked for a burger and sausage and he slapped a bun round it, I didn't want to waste it and throw it away in front of people, because I'd only come at the last minute, and didn't want to appear ungrateful. So I ate the bun and felt really, really bad about it. Like almost felt physically sick about it smiley - erm. I thought "that's just stupid", but it took a while to get that thought sunk into my head.

Broccoli is fine. If you had a bar of chocolate, you could feel guilty. Enjoy the broccoli - dark green veggies will get rid of the toxins in your body, which will help shift the bad fat.

Hey, I'm not feeling *too* guilty, it is just funny that the things to avoid on this diet are so very different than my usual diet!

Is reminded to go and make some jelly for tomorrow - it is a good pudding, one you have to plan ahead for...

Are you taking any vitamin supplements? I decided that as I wasn't going to be getting my usual fruit and veg I should probably start taking something. In my usual way I just bought the multivitamin that had the most stuff in it (bound to be better for me than the other types), and am now having to swallow something the size of a submarine every day smiley - yikes Could they have made these pills any bigger?

Titania (gone for lunch)

I take a daily supplement containing 8 vitamines and 10 minerals, but it's a small round pill.

Webwitch had a really good edited entry on the front page about 'balanced diet' maybe a week ago - this one: A1106434

Yeah, when on something like Atkins, it's a good idea to make sure you take your vitamins.

Mine aren't quite the same as kelli's horse tablets though! smiley - biggrin

Superdrug had a buy-1-get-1-free on Korean Ginseng multivitamins + minerals recently, so I've been taking those. I'm also taking an extra zinc tablet daily to keep colds at bay.

Yes, I read and commented on that in PR.

I'm only taking these vitamins because my diet has changed a great deal in the past couple of weeks...

Didn't get weighed in the end. We were going to see Blues Brothers smiley - cool at Theatre, time was short, people were late, and I had to sacrifice getting weight if we were to get to the Theatre in time. Little smiley - cross. Weighed on scales at home and I'd put on 1.5lb, but don't know how they compare to scales at Slimmers World.

Theatre is closed for a few weeks soon, I'll have my evenings back smiley - wow More time to exercise and stuff smiley - smiley

Well, another week on and I theoretically had a good week - went to the gym every day, stuck to the diet (apart from two glasses of wine on friday and one glass on saturday).

The result? I put on a pound. smiley - wah

Don't think this Atkins thing works! That or I am never destined to be any smaller than I am right now. I am going to give it one more week - and this time I'll be counting calories too - going back to 1400 calories per day ought to shift some weight, I just thought I wouldn't have to on the atkins diet *sigh* there really are no easy options. Maybe just isn't possible for me to be any smaller than this - this is the smallest I've been for a long time - never seem to do much better than this smiley - sadface

It's more difficult when you get rid of the major bulk.

Very disheartening if you've been doing well with no results smiley - cuddlesmiley - cheerup, don't forget there are other factors to take into consideration - tiredness, monthly cycles etc.

I'm finding it a lot more difficult now too, I guess the only thing is to be just as strict but with lots of exercise too . No 'treats' just because I've walked up a bloody hill! smiley - biggrin

Went to Woburn Safari Park yesterday cuz it was my birthday smiley - diva, did lots of walking there, and have still got birthday cake to eat, and a big bar of smiley - choc, but it's my birthday, so stuff feeling guilty smiley - ok

Happy birthday!smiley - bubbly

First day back at w*rk today - and everyone was commenting on how good I look!smiley - bigeyes 'You must have lost a lot during your vacation!' they said. Well, I've only lost a little (at least I didn't put on any weight during my 4 weeks off) put I think all the running and walking and 8-minutes-per-day exercises are finally starting to pay off, and that I might have shifted some of my weight from fat to muscles!smiley - boing

That, and the fact that I finally bought myself new trousers that fit better without being flabby(?) and that I'm wearing a top that fits a bit closer than the XL-shirts I've been wearing until now...

i have also had similar problems with the Aitkin's diet....slow (no) weight loss after weeks and terrible cramps from the irregularity. sorry Aitkin's fans, but a daily dose of vitamins and ex-lax are just not for me. However i still (desperately) need to lose a lot of weight so i thought i'd try plan B......the slimmers world diet. its based on choosing red days (unlimited protein) or green days (unlimited carbs) and as much fruit and veg as you want. Anyone tried it and found that it works? Anyway i thought i'd give it a go an see how i got on, after all what's a Monday without a new diet to start?

"What's a Monday without a new diet to start?" smiley - biggrin

I've been on Slimmers World this year, got bored with it which is why I went with Atkins for a while. But am getting bored with that now so I'm thinking about going back onto the Slimmers World one. It does seem to work, obviously you've got to stick to it properly. Only problem is that I don't get spots with Atkins! Maybe it's an allergy problem with wheat smiley - erm

With Slimmers World, I also found that rather than having a small 'sin' each day, it was better (and more fun) to have no sins at all in the week, then have a big fat Burger King meal at the weekend! smiley - ok

Good luck! Keep us posted on how you get on smiley - smiley

i like the idea of being able to save up and have a feast at the weekend. does this count for wine as well? this could well be the diet i've been putting on weight for!!!!

You're allowed 5-15 sins a day. I can't remember how much wine counts for though!

With Atkins you're allowed lots and lots and lots of wine smiley - bigeyes, think I'll stick with Atkins for another week, get all my birthday drinks out of the way before all alcohol becomes a 'sin'. smiley - winkeye

You aren't supposed to drink any alcohol at all during the induction phase of Atkins apparently. I wonder if I have just not been doing it right? I was reading some other book that said that caffeine stimulates insulin production without any carbs being consumed so I wonder if I have been mucking it up with my espressos every day?

Whatever, I'm fed up. It doesn't help that my gym has got a new set of scales - the old ones weighed about 3 lb light, and the new ones weigh heavy so overnight it looked as though I had put on 9 lb smiley - yikes I nearly cried.

I am so close to getting my bmi out of the obese category and into merely overweight - it just seems impossible to shift the next few pounds.

Excuse me, I'm just wallowing for a moment, I'll snap out of it eventually...

You will snap out of it smiley - ok

I was chatting to a woman about Atkins at the weekend, and she mentioned about coffee too, which I've still been drinking smiley - erm

You got the book though kelli, I didn't even bother doing that!

Remember how fantastically well you've done so far, and you have done Fan-flippin-tastically well! You've lost an amazing amount of weight, plateaus are natural, but we'll get off them and start heading downhill again smiley - ok

You go girl! smiley - diva
