I guess one of the reasons women would like the loo seat down is that especially if many people share one appartment and therefore one toilet women would prefer men to sit when they pee. This of course is mostly hopeless, but seeing the seat up confronts women with their total failure to win this discussion. Very bad feeling. Personally I don't care so much about seats, but I hate the sight of an open toilet, so I have cover-discussions instead...
