well, ATM i'm not very busy, so may pop along for the critical mass bike ride. Very early in the morning. Will maybe try and put some magic in the cycle basket and glitter the city streets. No idea quite why,?.?
Not likely to overthrow THE SYSTEM but could be fun. Uncle Ken the mayor says that no-one should go along, cos only anarchists will be there, intent on destruction. There will also be lots of police around as there usually are on these sorts of occasions.
Don't believe the hype, it will just be a few thousand people milling around and blowing whistles, stopping cars and carrying out merry japes satirising the nature of modern society - ooh a cardboard city style hotel in Park Lane - oh how witty... And probably 20 to 100 Etonians, nutters and football thugs who are intent on smashing McDonalds and anything else they can get their hands on. Who everyone else avoids. These dickheads will be the ones you see on the telly.
I might go along for the ride though...

BTW - Quebec?

i really hate anarchists theyre pathetic. and the press would love a wykehamist (ie me) being there to juxtapose neatly against the etonians (the schools being rivals and famous etc, should you not be from blighty)

I have no idea what you are on about?
Is that 'cus Im hung over or are you talking
nonsence?
The anarcists cause is right
there solution still needs
a bit of work but is basicly the
right one.
So I say yes to smashing up mcdonalds
It wont achive any thing and it will
make them look bad but boy would
it be fun.
I wish they weren't all so think though
it makes the cause look bad.
There was one of them on the news and
he had to argue with this Tory and even
though the Torys arguments were a pile
of poo all the fool could
say in his terible esturay english
was yea capitilism bad yea you cant tell us
what to do.
I wish that some times the inteligent people
behind anarchic (which dosent mean choas)
thought would come forward to explain its merits in
intelligent terms.

I didn't go on the bike ride, I was in bed with a young distraction (yum). But I think I know what JK means - sort of. Anarchy could certainly be utopian... if everyone was just nice to each other then you wouldn't need rules, I guess.
Not sure that point is best proved by smashing things myself... But also not sure if I've 'got' the anarchy thing, since it seems to involve wearing lots of black and looking for a fight. Street Parties are ace though

no! anarchy! stupid!
ask an anarchist this
'so, your going to break the system?'
'yeah'
'take down the forces of capitalism?'
'yeah. dude/man'
'then what'll happen?'
'um...i dunno. not fought dat far. durr'
what a useless waste of energy it is. no one will listen. no one will be nice to eachother with no incentive other than karma

I don't like talking about politics. It's all too theoretical. Capitalism as it exists right now is bad, I think, but I don't know if all forms of capitalism would always be bad. Communism as the Russians and the Chinese tried it was bad, but I don't know if all forms of communism will always be bad. Does Anarchy work? Is Anarchy good or bad? Well, what we have now is Anarchy. It's lots of people left to themselves to decide what they want to do, and it just so happens that lots of them have agreed to co-operate and form big governments with big armies and police forces and so on. I guess if people are left to themselves there exists some tendency among them to form bigger groups and to try to dominate smaller groups, or else how do you explain how it happened that we are living in the systems we are living in right now? But as I said, it's all to theoretical. Who really knows? I'm just trying to survive, to not p**s too many people off, to try and have some happiness for myself and arrange some happiness for the people I have an influence on as well. Maybe we can change the system, maybe we can overthrow it, maybe if we do that the world would be better, maybe if we do that the world would be worse. Do whatever your conscience tells you, try and persuade others to do the same as you want, but just don't be too sure of yourself.
