Nice. Always wondered who 'she' was.

Sadly, neither have I heard any dirty versions. Ah well, life goes on.

Even more sadly, I can't think of any corrections.

Do you not want to add the chorus? I've never heard it sang without it.

The problem is the sheer number of choruses (chorii ?) where almost any repetitive refrain will do ~ So thanks but I think I'll pass.

Are there any other common choruses? The one I mentioned is the only one I've ever heard, no matter who I've heard sing it.

I did mention

"singing I will if you will so will I"

"and when she comes the pigs will fly"

"singing I've got duck poo in my eye"

Singing "I will, if you will, so will I,"
Singing "I will, if you will, so will I,"
Singing "I will, if you will, so will I,"
"I will, if you will, so will I."

She'll be driving six white horses, when she comes...

She'll be wearing pink pyjamas, when she comes...

She'll be wearing frilly knickers, when she comes...
Well, the chorus I know goes:

Singing I will if you will so will I,
Singing I will if you will so will I,
Singing I will if you wil
Singing I will if you will
I will if you will so will I.

However, this usually goes with the slighly ruder version which has these verses:


Oh, she has a lovely naval uniform
She has a lovel naval uniform
Oh she has a lovel naval
Has a lovely naval
Has a lovely naval uniform


Oh, she's got a lovely bottom set of teeth
Oh she has a lovely botton set of teeth
Oh she has a lovely bottom
Has a lovely bottom
Has a lovely bottom to her jaw.



Oh, she's got a lovely pair of bright blue eyes...

Oh she has a lovely country house in Spain...

The first 7 lines in the above should't be there. I forgot to remove 'em after I'd composed the piece

I think this entry could do with perhaps being a bit longer to encompass all the common versions of verses and choruses at least.

Unless there is a story behind each verse, I don't really see the point of writing them all up. Doesn't that also cause a problem with copyright?

I suppose... I just think the comments at the bottom of the entry will rapidly fill up with people complaining that the version of the song they know and love isn't mentioned. It's probably not that important though

I think it would be worth saying that beyond the first few common lines, it is common for individual members in a gang to improvise in order to keep the song going, and so there is no definitive version. (This might particularly be the case with the more bawdy versions, which could become progrtessively more obscene as people tried to outdo each other. The more bawdy versions have the 'I will if you will...' chorus.)

I have added a couple of lines covering the two alternative 'common' choruses.
