I think most of us feel that way Smudger but what I can't understand is why we 'roll over' and take it! Most people of other nationalities that I know have no objections whatever to us celebrating Christmas as we have always done, and indeed many of them benefit from the trade it brings to their shops!
In our city we have the same silly ways, yet all religions and those of different sexual orientation are allowed to celebrate freely in any way they choose, so why should we suffer? I think the Ministry of Silly Works is working overtime and it is time common sense was reinstated.
This Govt. seems hell bent in tying us up in knots with all these laws, rules regulations, in an effort to appear to be doing something, when in fact, with the issues that really matter, they are doing nothing, except expressing a hot of hot air.
Whether guests or residents here, immigrants should respect our ways, customs and laws, as we have to in other countries.

Well many thanks for your post and your support WS, its comforting to know that I am not alone in here as regards that subject. The whole subject really annoys me every time I read about these instances.
All the folk on that site are ex service, some of them are older blokes who have seen action during their service, who simply cant understand just what is happening in the country the fought for
Thanks again for your support, I really do appreciate it

I might as well get in before it's banned!
Smudger is on a roll. Common sense seems to have gone out the window these days, PC madness has taken over!

Aye! many thanks for that SS, I was quite surprised when I saw it in without any editing!
Its a sad fact though that the only way we can complain about all this is on a forum on a web site, as to speak a loud in the street would probably get us in trouble with the law Thanks for you post

On reading your article Smudger, I was constantly nodding my head as it is exactly how I feel too . The country is going mad, and it really does annoy me. It's like it is being done on purpose, just to annoy us all
.
Smudger, I hope you don't mind me asking? I have problems with my eyesight, and have to enlarge all text before reading. When writing your articles, would you be so kind to put in more paragraphs and so it is easier for me to read? .
Thank you my friend. I hope that you don't mind me asking.

Good point Nigel, I have trouble reading long paragraphs too, especially on the screen, and shorter ones are much easier to cope with.

Another struggler here Smudger My mind is a blank at the moment. I keep promising myself to get ahead and do it early, but the deadline seems to spur me on. It isn't as if I don't have enough choice of subjects, they are endless, but I have to feel motivated and enthusiastic about them or I can't write. I spent my working life writing boring reports so I need something that is fun

Yea! I think my problem is I don't get out enough, No its true! I spend every day looking after Mk2, and besides, there are large chunks of my life that I cant remember?
The therapist says that is normal, but I am not so sure
Also, I think I have covered all the parts I do remember

I don't get out enough either. PHM has been at home since about the 18th Dec. and apart from Christmas Day at my son's, and a couple of routine shopping trips for me, we haven't been out either.
I am sure you will think of some snippets of interes. It is quite frustrating that you have stories on a certain topic, which would fascinate me, and others, yet you can't use them!
It affects energy levels and brain power so much without us realising it. Roll on the Spring, at least we shall have some daylight .
Take care,

Just once I'd like to get on a board and submit a list
of the things that offend me.
Or get to be dictator for a day and make some things banned.
Maybe just go out and campaign for something so I can let more than twenty people think I'm crazy.
1. People who choose not to smoke should not be allowed to fill the air with unnatural scents that make your eyes water and your mouth feel funny.
2. High Heels have their place, but their wearers should take lessons in rhythm and be taught what those infernal things are doing to their backs and organs.
3. If you move into a quiet neighborhood, your first task is not to demonstrate the joys of noise or let the world know what you think of your spouse and kids at the top of your lungs at 3AM.
4. People who think violence is a really bad thing should be forced to actually experience some before they start making laws about who can do what to whom, and how much time is allowed off for good behavior once a violent offender is finally recarcerated.
5. We should never vote for someone whose loo we haven't seen.
6. Bicyclists and pedestrians and wheelchairs should have the right of way, because automobilers have all the comforts of home in there with them and they shouldn't worry about hurrying anywhere.
7. Flying is not important.
8. Immigrants can do whatever they want in their own communities, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. Whatever offends them they can discuss amongst themselves. I don't like racial or cultural discrimination when it applies to me and I don't like it when it applies to my friends.
9. Don't ask me to fight or work for something you're going to take away from me. I want things just the way I left them when I get home.
10. Education is not warehousing children until they are old enough to go on the dole or go into politics. Education is making them aware of what their parents were too stupid to teach them. Teaching children to take tests so the government can quantify them like cattle is just fascism.
11. There is no law when all the laws do is make more things unlawful. A law-abiding citizen should not have to check the papers every morning to see if he should turn himself in or leave the country.
12. Holidays and lawyers should be observed in different settings. The Holidays should be observed with friends, family and pub mates, while the lawyers should be observed hiding from their ex-spouses.
