You seem to have covered everything I'm up to
I am glad you had a good Christmas break, it helps to get away to find if you miss something or not, it's more precious upon return
We're all glad to have you back anyway, hootoo *was* quiet, I was here every day and I submitted two updates to PR with not a soul commenting so I just informed the Eds what I'd done and updated the original EGEs myself. I'm unconcerned though as PR has picked up 100% since New Year, and my Carrie Fisher PR thread is already three-dots long I'm really hoping that'll be done and on the FP soon as next weekend at the Inauguration Ball she is going to be the hostess (am I still allowed to use that word, or is it deemed "sexist" now?) I tremendously admire people like her who have problems but then fight to overcome them.
Mentioning the Deathlist as you did, some people think the coffin club is bad taste but hey, we're all going to go sometime so we might as well have fun. Although, I don't know if you saw the interview Patrick Swayze did with Barbara Walters shown yesterday, he has prostate cancer (I knew that already) but he's long been a heart-throb of mine and I couldn't pick him, for my list this year. Because I am praying he will recover even though the prognosis is only 5% recover, it's the deadliest form of cancer there is
I am also looking forward to our planned meet-up, May doesn't seem very far away now and I've already booked my hotelI'll be getting my train tickets next month, then it's countdown!

Thank you.
It took me a while to trawl through my conversation list, picking out what was mentionable. And yes, I read the interview with Patrick Swayze the other day (coming there from a link to something else RF had posted). I had never known he was so ill, I had only been surprised to find his name on last year's list.
When I asked my sister for suggestions, she looked at me and said this was morbid and in bad taste. I told her they were no wish lists, but she insisted it was morbid. Maybe she's right, I don't know. I had to find that I had real difficulties in finding people to suggest, though. I think most of mine are at around 90 years old.

That's the thing about the Death List though. Everyone on your list IS going to die, sometime.
But yes, I couldn't bring myself to pick Valentino Rossi as my under 50, and I even felt too much sympathy for Jade Goody to choose her...

I have no idea who Valentino Rossi is. Jade Goody rings a bell, though - was she in Big Brother or something? Maybe I should watch TV.

Rossi is a very very talented motorbike racer. Dangerous sport.
Goody was indeed a BB "sleb", and has gone on to forge a sort of career for herself on the back of that. She was famous for her racist comments against Shilpa Shetty, but last year had to withdarw from the Indian version of BB (where she'd gone in an attempt to get more understanding of India and its people, history, culture etc) when she was diagnosed with cancer

Now I feel really guilty because I *have* picked Jade as my under-50. I don't think she will be a unique pick though. and as you say, it's not a "wish list" if it was I'd really object and certainly wouldn't take part,

Thought it was her. She's been discussed a lot here on h2g2.

Oh she was on my long list! The under 50 is always the one that causes the most moral soul-searching, because it is logical to pick someone with a declared illness.

I was lucky - I worked Christmas Eve but after that I was off until the 5th January. It worked out really well, with Christmas Day and Boxing Day being bank holidays which were followed by a weekend. A Civil Service perk is that we have a priviledge day (free day off) around Christmas, so I actually only needed to use up about three days holiday for the whole time.
