Reading the pro hunting post on various message boards, and else where
I have been trying to see the hunting debate through their eyes but I cannot
Because not one pro argument as done any think to make me reconsider my anti hunting views
So lets look at some of the pro hunting arguments
Hunting is part of our heritage it is a centuries old tradition
And a legal activity which gives pleasure to many people
Very true and no doubt these same arguments were used by the supporters of public executions , torture , dog / cock fighting , bear, and bull baiting
But they were abolished
Would anyone like to see their return?
Hunting with dog is the most effect method of controlling foxes.
I have heard huntsmen say that the majority get away
If that is the case ,then I do not think it is an effective means of control
It is the most human method of control
I would not call chasing a fox for several hours until it is exhausted and can hardly stand before killing it very human even when the end is quick
If hunting is banned many people would be unemployed and lose their homes
What is to stop hunts changing to drag hunting, then that need not happen
Hunters could still ride to hounds, have their hunt balls and have all the other ritual that goes with hunting except the gory end
I also heard a huntsman say that it was not the kill that provided the enjoyment but the chase
So why not take up drag hunting
If you are against hunting then you should also be against the ritual killing of animals for meat
Yes, I am but that is a subject for another thread

So what? It's a fox. Or it's a mink. Why the heel should I care if such bloody and cruel animals are suffering? Which they aren't really to any great extent anyway...
