I know RhoMuNuQ well - we work together on a lot of things. I'm glad to hear you're a bit happier now - if still critical of GuideML. smiley - winkeye

I only give as much info as is on my PS - all I can say in addition is that I'm enjoying English Lit in particular and am looking at applying to Universities to study English... smiley - smiley

Well than I'll be careful with my english. I am considering that you have a good sense of humor, and don't take it as an insult: some one said: " There is latin in it, there is french in it, there is german in it, may be some saxon,--- but where is the english???" smiley - smiley Gecko

P.S. Whoami?smiley - cake ask RhoMunuque to send you the Spring animated cartoon I sent to him to his E-mail. He got it and enjoyed it. I can do this only through E-mail.

Hello Whoami?smiley - cake Do you see some times My Space? I work on it very often, and things are improving. Also I have continous conversations with many friends I collected here and than I have no time to do more " creative" work.
With the Aknowledgments I'll list in Alphabetical order the names of my dear helps.
Perhaps I will paint some pictures from the war for my September Show. Art is the real place of Freedom. The limit is the Sky. smiley - peacedove soon Gecko with smiley - love

On this part of this planet most communities large enough to afford a reasonable library or school facility have part time courses in the neighbourhood where residents may receive instruction on the finer points of computational skills.

As an example one might expect to pay (if one was financially secure enough) a small sum to help towards operating costs (and in effect show willing) to the tune of thirty or fourty pounds for a short course on HTML. (Free below certain thresholds.)

Such a course is more than adequate to get you started in a computer language and allows you to improve somewhat at leisure with books on the subject.

Other services ususally offered at these venues include introductions to other computer programmes -from word processing to image handling and internet use.

On the subject of using Word, Microsoft's flagship word processor:

It was originally designed with office workers in mind. It is written in a style that typists can undestand without previous experience. It's main concept is to provide pages of print in written form. That is, it's designed to send its creations to a printer.

It is not designed for use over the internet. One has only to look at MSN's own message boards to realise this. Postings from Word to MSN.Groups will show a lot of HTML code in the final message. If msn.groups can't allow for it, one should not expect other corporations to try.

On the other hand it is good to write it initially in Word for the following reasons:

There is no danger of losing one's work if your computer "goes off-line."

Saving a copy is easily done.

Should you "lose" any work in it, it will be stored somewhere on your computer, check your temporary files and your default storage facility.

XP (for one) will remind you that you have unsaved work in a folder. Mine stores a ghost of it on the desktop and is thus immediately noticeable on start up.

It can be used as a grammar checker (find the UK English default.)

It is simple enough to save as a text message for posting on-line.

But you lose work you might regret deleting in notepad and most text only editors. Weightier Word Processors have undo and restore undo features as well as automatic work saving.

After a long intermission I am back here: Gecko who started to work with Whoami? smiley - cake and Homer.
I made great progress, though at this time I am off to work with my urgent Spring Obligations in my garden.
I became more friendly and " tolerant" with the new Language to use in h2g2.
Now I am working on my Lizard portrait to insert into my Personal Page instead of a " pink Baby" there at the ptesent time.
But there are days that I just have no time to get to my computer. It will end soon this Spring Fever and will have more time for a lot of good things coming up for the community.
Must mention that my great progress should be credited to the help of RhoMuNuQ. smiley - love Gecko smiley - biggrin

Alright Gecko! If you want to know what I'm up to, you can read my journal. Mostly I'm just at school. I do try to keep in touch, but I keep track of a lot of stuff on h2g2 and at the moment I'm involved in discussions over Peer Review which eat up much of my time, alongside my volunteer duties.

It's nice that you want to keep in touch - I *will* try!

Hi Whoami? smiley - cake Nice to hear from you. I am not much with h2g2 in these days ( weeks)-- because what we call here Spring Fever! I love gardening and busy to plant my annuals. This past winter was very demaging, but Nature is wonderful to recover from injuries.
I will work on My page, when I have more time. smiley - love Gecko smiley - smiley

P.S. I think you live in Warwickshire??? Is that it? I have a brochure about Warwick, but what is Shire? ( Is that a silly question?) smiley - sorry

In England, we have counties, like the French Departements. They're a geographical area consisting of several towns. Warwickshire comprises Warwick, Leamington Spa, Stratford, Rugby and a few other places - it's to the South and East of Coventry.

Thank you, I really would not know otherwise.
It will be 2 years in June, that I was in Europe. Of course there was Sept.11, 2001.
I used to travel a lot, but still waiting. I got those brochures from the British Tourist Bureau in NYC. Some times I do " armchair traveling" at present: just look my magazines and dream. So far I was 2x in England. I love that country!
OK. Hope you enjoy the Spring Time! Thanks again. Do you have access to watch Homer = " The Simpsons"?? It is not a silly cartoon, has lot of deep meanings in it. smiley - love Gecko smiley - smiley

There are few Americans travelling to Europe at the moment - 9/11 really put people off the idea of flying, I think. If you were to buck the trend and visit the UK, you'd be made most welcome and the holidays are probably quite cheap at the moment.

Dear Whoami?smiley - cake You are very kind as always. True: it is cheap the roundtrip, but even today I was warned not to take a chance for a few months yet. My favored traveling time to Europe was always in the Fall.
Last time I was in London to meet my brother who also came there from an other country, it was the most unforgettable travel experience.

We went to Oxford, to Cambridge and Bath and looked the museums and galleries in London. But what I remember as most pleasent was the weather with perfectly blue sky, warm and the country site was so very beautiful in England.--- Yeah ofcourse the Windsor castle!

I saw that previousely when was demaged by the fire, and than I saw in the splendor as it was rebuilt!

For now I look my magazines for future planning. The world is like a beehive which was disturbed and it takes time to quiet down! Sorry, history of mankind is and was always full of fights, wars, victories, defeats and just a lot of suffering for the individuals.
But every war ends in Peace, smiley - peacedove after every storm the sunshine returns. smiley - love Gecko smiley - smiley

"Today I was warned not to take a chance for a few months yet."

If it's a security issue, security on international flights is better than ever - especially flying out of the US. And hey, you could always book a transatlantic cruise for the way back. smiley - winkeye

Autumn is nice - but summer's lovely too. I'm at school near Oxford. I was in Cambridge today. I go to London occassionally.

Why not visit sunny Warwickshire? Flights to Birmingham Airport are frequent. There's Warwick and Kenilworth castles and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Plus, there's not as much worth flying a plane into in Birmingham. smiley - winkeye

Hi Whoami? smiley - cake Yeah, it would be nice to go over the pond! But my time is mostly in the fall anyway.
I was 2 years ago in June in Switzerland which was very lovely the previous Fall. But I never would go in High Season to any place again.

I have a friend who is my doctor. He is an ardent mountain climber in a very serious way. He was many times in the Himalayas ( no, did not do the Everest!) but he went this Spring, just before the war started. The group of ten climbers were greeted with the most hostile way: with guns etc. because of being the residents of this country. Needless to say: he came back much earlier to be on the safe side.

Though I am not even a native here, every time I go to Europe, everywhere I got this "notion" of ---- well-- how to say it? They just don't like us!smiley - grr
There was only one country from the past I can remember: Neatherland!
Yeah, I had a very friendly time there! But that is about all.!!!

Some day I get to my traveling notebooks and : he-he-he do you think I could challenge Mr. Moxon??? Interesting that he did not see those places yet where I traveled. Guess he will cover the Globe, being so young. I don't have that chance, not because of my age, but because I have never had any interest to see some places of this Earth.

We are not aware how good life is where we are: "The grass is always greener on the other side"--- but as it is for now: I am enjoying Spring is very beautiful in Long Island. Than comes the hot and humid Summer and miserery again because of the heat! Have a Good Day now! smiley - love Gecko smiley - smiley Keep in touch!

You're not allowed to wield guns in the UK - the police would want to hear about it. Tourism over here is suffering and on the whole would love it if people were flying. I wouldn't go to Paris, though. While tourist, rural France knows which side its bread's buttered, Paris think they can afford to hate the UK and US on account of the war.
