what is the meaning of life?

Just because a haircut is inevitable, it doesn't mean it is our meaning for life. smiley - biggrin Taken from Post 690.

Perhaps a haircut is not inevitable, but 'looking good' adds a lot of meaning to some lives and I would not be surprised if it turns out to be the meaning of life for some. Much of the minor celebrity cult would appear to be based on this. So far I have not seen a page 3 for uglies.

I am 52! (Does that make me closer to the meaning of life, or further away? Only time will tell...smiley - winkeye )
Meanwhile, life continues ....

smiley - winkeye Well as far as I can see, there's nothing to stop it! (One of my Grandad's favourite phrases, along with 'the higher, the fewer, hence the pyramids')

42 is the optimum number of periods for the rulers of this planet. It comes roughly in the middle of their life expectancies here and the time when their atractivity is at the height if earning capacity and vigour are the test.

It is the number of their prime objective (that their world is designed For Two and that a couple will be happiest if the Two have Four children. A period of 24 is the average for each of the pair to come to sufficient maturity to see their need for bonding (their first mutual confirmation that their lives are indeed bound by 42.))

As with other planets nestling at their centres of their universes, 42 is one of the many variations of the composites of the building blocks of physics, however the cranial capacities of the inhabitants of such planets has conditioned them to believe that they are incapable of understanding fractals.

More detailed discussion of the number is found elsewhere in the Guide and as such; unworthy of further input from me for now, here at least.

It is interesting that a previous entry conveys happiness can be found with the number 15, as this is the average period for a term of imprisonment for serious criminal offenders here and it is a pathological need to serve this amount of penury that defines these "misfits."

"not to die"

Also it laughed and said that humans always had an unhealthy obsession for multiples of the number seven smiley - biggrin

What, seven and forty two? I have noticed a trend upon this site, specifically, to think that merely because the late, the great, the permanently mate, Mr Adams was one of the best philosopher/humorists of our century, that they feel the need to run around everywhere shouting "Forty-two!" at the top of their voices, their motto being repeat ad annoyum.

Fnord Prefix
Agreed
Although 42 IS one of those damnable multiplications of the obsessive number 7.

That's only two numbers, Moth, out of an infinite range, it hardly means obsession, now, does it?

i've been bouncing ideas off of a few people and i asked a question. "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" and my bf said "42." I admit that it caught me off gaurd becuase I wasn't expecting it. But I have a URL which says that the ultimate question is what is the sqare root of negative one? and a few other interesting things. I found this by asking the only person I thought would know: Jeeves. IT HELPED!!! http://www.galactic-guide.com/articles/2U13.html there's your URL.. not only does it say, w/o a doubt what the ultimate answer is, its shows what marvin's brain really is! there ya go!!
