Tried moshing when I was 15 but was rubbish. Stick to the old goth 2-step now like the wussy-pants I am. As for 14 yr olds giving it a go, doesn't everyone have to start somewhere?

I started moshing when I was 12 and first got into Atari Teenage Riot.. Am pretty good at it actually

To do the goth 2-step you go forward 2 steps, then go back (you guessed it!) 2 steps. This is, of course, done as rythmically as possible, depending on your state of drunkeness, and accompanied by arm-flailing in what you think is an appropriate, stylised manner, but in fact is just silly, especially when you have a drinky in one hand and a fag in the other. <>

It can be adapted to just about any song and is ideal for lazy people like me who can't be bothered using up their energy moshing! Glad to hear you are keeping the art-form alive though!

I am quite aware that headbanging can ruin your mind, all that hammering your brain against the skull don't do it any favours. Of course it would take a helluva lot of pounding to do any damage, but sometimes I feel I'm halfway there myself

i always think the biggest danger in moshing (well in my experience) is piercing injuries

is it natural to experience dizziness and headaches after too much headbanging? Cos I've been headbanging a helluva lot lately and have been having bad headaches and dizzy spells..

Moshing is a bit like dancing and can be an emotional way of expressing yourself. Some enjoy moshing becuase it is intense and physical, same as enjoying a game of rugby. Usually it is not mindless, people pick others up and try hard to not crush the random small girl who always goes in. Of course there are occasional morons who go over the top and try to inflict pain with their elbows etc. but they usually get a smack in the face by someone big. I do believe the mosh is slowly dieing tho. Maybe due to the young age of metal appreciaters. I thought Download festival was very calm towards the front this year.

Moshing is nothing compared to the real problems out there (like you).

What you are saying is that you want to kill innocent people, maybe you should join the army, or the police force.

Moshing has nohting to do with society because it's segragted from the public eye (they're usually refered to as gigs). And who cares about society, it doesn't even care for itself.

And before you say it, I'm not into that whole "Mosh" thing, yet I listen to Alice In Chains, Nirvana, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and I'm an upstanding citizen, I own a house, a car, a well paid job and the usual junk.

Mosh represents musical interest, forget that individual rubbish, it's a way of life.
