a lot of choir, orchestra and audience, but from what you write it's well worth it.
If ever I should find myself in Dublin in Advent I'll make sure to go there.

It's not too much to ask of the performers, but clearly some of the audience find it a bit long. The performance starts at 8, and the Hallelujah Chorus is sung at about 10. A lot of people leave at that point, although there's still another half hour of music to go.

Maybe you need some disclaimer at the beginning, announcing that the Hallalujah Chorus isn't *quite* the ending of the Messiah?

A lot of people come because it is a charity event, and they're not really that interested. They enjoy the music, but tire after 2 hours. It upsets some people in the choir, but it doesn't worry me. The ones that stay are the ones who really want to listen.

Oh, OK, I see. But doesn't people leaving bring a lot of disruption and noise?
