Candi - now 42!

Well........I suppose a flood in the highlands is pretty unlikely, as they're too high, so perhaps your name indicates that you are quite contrary in nature. On the other hand, the valleys of the highlands might flood sometimes so maybe thats not it.
smiley - erm....:scratches head:....let me see.....maybe it signifies aspects of your personality which are simultaneously craggy and gushing????????????!!!!!!!

....Oh I give up. Sorry. Too hard - smiley - headhurts

Highland Flood, Muse of Stagehands and Civil Servants, and Keeper of a Straight Face

True, "Highland Flood" is a rather cursory, taciturn nickname. Which is in fact somewhat at odds with my character. I am much more of a "tangential one" like Wayfarer / Scout - the World Wide Web carries far too many temptations for me because its endless series of links to closely or vaguely connected subjects bears an uncanny resemblance to my thought process, especially my thought process as I'm trying to get to sleep. Anyhow, getting back off that tangent, analysis is certainly much easier when there is more material to analyze - perhaps you could draw a few conclusions about me from these sentences, aside from the conclusions I've stated in them.

I came up with the nickname Highland Flood as an obscure synonym for two other words, and liked the paradoxical sound it it. I've discovered since then that others have combined the two words before me. A 19th-century painter, Edwin Landseer, has a painting called "A Highland Flood" - I haven't seen the painting, but I think it depicts a bunch of animals running from an overflowing river or something like that. And there was a flood in Highland, Indiana, some years ago.

Highland Flood, Muse of Stagehands and Civil Servants, and Keeper of a Straight Face

Well, "simultaneously craggy and gushing" might be a fair description of me, I suppose. But I'm not a contrarian - everyone else is.

No I won't analyse your name.
Because you didn't say "please".
But thanks anyway for asking, you taught me a new word. There was me pretending to know everything, and I had to look up your name in the dictionary.

Now, that's much better, thank you.
Sorry, though. There is not much to go on with your name and I have read your user space now which kind of mucks up this analysis lark a bit.
You could try mine though............

....please?

Sounds pretty straight forward, like someone saying Oh my gosh! Probably meaning `Did you see that!` or `Did they really write that!` Totally amazed by what your fellow creatures get up to. smiley - smiley

Yep, that's pretty much the main reason behind "Ommigosh" as a nickname!!
There are more reasons too, though.
Well done and thanks!!

Hullo! Anybody here to do some name magic? I am known on the net as Leeneh and Arika. The first is explained someplace on h2g2 (don't peek!) and isn't really a nick, but the second? Can you tell what's in my name Arika?

I'm just as guilty for not being original with my nickname, but ,then
again, I make the late Bill Owen's character from Last Of The Summer
Wine look positively debonair!!!!!! And,yes,I had used to work with someone who was a double for Nora Batty, although Kathy Staff's
characters stockings weren't so badly wrinkled!!!!!!!

I was thinking - when did that Japanese company start up? Maybe I could lay in a claim to the copyright and get filthy rich. I invented Arika 20 years ago.

..and this is a completely innappropriate place for that, probably you will get to meet the Moderators soon. you aren't supposed to just jump into a conversation with something completely unrelated, unless it's Topic Drift. which this isn't.
