It's high time I asked to join you all...

... so, here I am, asking to join together with the band. (Sorry, that has to be one of the most over-used lyrics). So.
What instrument(s) do you play, or want to play?
I'd love to quote Bono and say that "for years I've wanted to play the guitar very badly, and now, finally, I can say that I play the guitar very badly." I think I'm actually pretty good at it now, though, with all due modesty. I play and own three different electric guitars, an electric bass guitar, three more acoustic guitars (12-string, 6-string steel, and a 6-string classical student's guitar). The short answer here is that I play guitar - lots of 'em.
I want to play piano very much, and right now I can play the keys with a very limited "easy chords only" attitude, which suits my recording/composing needs just well enough. I can play drums (with embarrassingly poor skill considering how many lessons I took as an early teen). I also honk on mightily with the saxophone whenever I can get it away from my younger brother, though those days are long-gone as well. At one point I could get out a few simple tunes on the violin, but I grew to the point where my finger size frustrated that. I can't play the harmonica a lick, but that doesn't stop me from trying. I guess that covers it all! I'm trying to save up for buying a steel-body, a Dobro or National type guitar, as well as a pedal-steel electric slide guitar. There are so many other instruments that I'd love to learn to play that it would take an entire entry! Obviously I'm obsessed with making noise (I call it music, but that's just me). I'm nowhere near professional-grade, but I came close to making music my life's work - well, it still is, but I had to get a serious day-career to support this habit, know what I mean?
Do you sing?
I try to! My voice is somewhere between David Gilmour's and Leonard Cohen's, without being as appealing as either.
Do you have a favorite composer, musical artist, band, or music genre?
Wow, this is a lot to ask! I'll chicken out of this on on a technicality/loophole, and simply answer "yes, several."
Is there anything in particular you would like from the Musicians Guild?
Just to hang out, do a lot of lurking, and helping with the occasional music-related entry! I did one on Dick Dale ages ago, but forgot to mention it around here - also loved the article on guitar-related injuries and managed to contribute one very small anecdote to that fantastic entry. See y'all around!

You'd think I'd have taken the time to look and see the "sign up here" thread right below this one.

I don't know what's worse ... posting in the wrong thread, or forgetting that you were ALREADY A MEMBER of the group you're trying to join. I think I'll go with the second of those. I'm ... embarrassed. Ignore me, I'll try to keep up. Think of it as a serious desire to get more into the music community here after reading some nice entries. Somehow I never got around to bookmarking this and/or paying attention. I need to get more sleep.
