Escape Pod Dreams: The 16, 33, 45, 78 Issue
The phrase "16, 33, 45, 78" falls on deaf ears of the young, unless they are budding DJs. I once asked a physics teacher why those numbers are not multiples or in sequence. He said it either had to do with the "golden section" or it was a result of record or gramophone companies submitting slightly different (by a red hair or a blonde hair) speeds or formats from their competitors and letting the public decide who went in the toilet.More reasons why audio recordings and plumbing fixtures should never be mentioned in the same diurnal:
