London meet april 2011 anyone?

*makes notes*
I could start a piggybank for the occasion but then our will be off the market from January on. How complicated...

I would dearly love to see everyone, but I have a major library exhibit scheduled for April 4-30. There's no way I could get over there before the first week of May. Poo!
I'll be there in spirit, though.

I forgot to add that the first week of July would suit me if everyone wants to set it as a definite annual date. The Hampton Court Flower Show is in early July each year, and I'm anxious to attend. I've been sort of trapped here in June and July because of Summer Reading. But with proper planning on my part, I could make it work.

Early April would suit me well - this job lasts till March at the latest, and after that, I hope to take a ferry over to GB and have a look around there before I sell the car

I'm interested but will have to wait and see how things go. I can't comment on dates as yet.

As I may well be repugnant in February, I could find myself at a loose end every weekend, but I'll wait for the voting dates to be posted. Too early to quote gig dates.

Hyp, if you want to come down to Devon I can arrange a cricket match for the week you're over if you like. We play at least once a fortnight through the summer anyway so it wouldn't be more than a tweak to the schedule. I even know a couple of h2g2 Researchers who might come along and play/be cider-drinking 12th men

I can be there any time with enough notice. I'll book it off as soon as we have a date. Do we have a date?

The wedding date of the prince and his finacée has been set and will be on 29th April. I'm afraid that'll mean that hotels and flights etc will not only be sparse, but expensive, too, in the run-up to the wedding.
Maybe mid-May would be a better bet?

i still vote for 16 april. that's the last saturday before easter and still 13 days before the royal wedding so hotels etc should still be fairly cheap by then

I think the point Famous Toilet Celebration (I assume that's why there's all this memorabilia with 'WC' on it being shown?) is a fairly major factor - especially as it is going to give a lot of people the chance to get 11 days straight off by only using 3 days holiday.
Even if they ain't into the wedding, that period leading up to it is going to be busy and expensive in London.
I'd much rather go for May myself...

Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Nov 24, 2010
but by that time london will probably move straight from the wedding and into the very height of the tourist season so the prices won't be any lower, i guess
in any case i wish somebody would set up a voting soon because ordering holidays, tickets and hotels is probably best done before xmas

If we do it in relay, I'm pretty sure that we can complete a marathon between us. That is what you meant, right?

That's what I thought might happen.
It#s always tourist season in London, it's been full of tourists no matter which month I went there.
