>> I realise that it is completely unacceptable to be rude to Americans <<

Hmmm..
It certainly ain't wise to tease MT Redhead; I can tell you that from experience. smiley - yikes

But I wouldn't go so far as to generally forbid, prohibit or inhibit rudeness to Americans; to do so would be a violation of the Golden Rule. The point being that he who throws the first rude... No wait ..Let he who is without rude get stoned. No that's not it...Hmmmmm. Let's just say, if an American is rude to thee, it would be rude not to be rude in return.

In this case however you did strike the first blow, somewhere beneath the irony belt, and it appears she has very cleverly countered your rudeness by rudely walking off, cutting off the possibilty of any good intention or apology.

In doing so she succesfully gets away with being rude to all of us. No one but me would dare call her petulant or self righteous for doing so, and here we all are, feeling guilty because she took exception to some banal pub-ribbing generality.

Only an American has the moxy to pull off that kinda stunt. smiley - nahnah On the other hand only a true 'lady' can do it with such grace. And I do have to agree that one should never be rude to ladies. smiley - rose Especially those who are busy writing a doctoral thesis and who don't always have the time or patience for pub-chatter/chat-room jocularities.

I made the mistake of trying to chat her up with some of my bad gangsta-boy ghetto-style rap about two years ago. I still bear the scars and the guilt. smiley - headhurts So move over MasterB, we can share the doghouse.

Of course, Poldari.smiley - smiley

I had to miss Germany out because WG would have been way too obvious.

Now that was international enough, wasn't it?

For the benefit of LuckyStar, and other people who don't understand football:

U = Uruguay
I = Italy
I = Italy
U = Uruguay
? = G = Germany
B = Brazil
B = Brazil
E = England (1966 and all that)
B = Brazil
? = G = Germany
A = Argentina
I = Italy
A = Argentina
? = G = Germany
B = Brazil
F = France
B = Brazil (this year)

Well done, Polidari - easy when you think about it...

Okay - here's a clue to a person - all you have to do is work out the person. Guess as many times as you want, and I'll add another clue in a while if no-one gets it. Oh, and when you've got the answer, please explain the clues!

This person started off their career working with one member of their family and ended it working with another one.

Oliver Twist?

Or the kid in Great Expectations...?

Or any character from Fiction?
It would narrow things down a bit if you confirm the answer to be a 'real' person. Like Fergie. smiley - winkeye

I quite like the concept that the last thing Mozart did professionally was directly related to what he did afterwards...

Decomposed, presumably.

Ah, the old ones are the best! I reckon the actor idea leaves the most room for the subsequent activities to relate to the last role. There are a few dynasties to go for too. Not my field though smiley - sadface
