From a little shell
At the bottom of the sea
Was the Earth and the Moon
And the Sun above me
But the world fell down
With some people still around
There is love, there is love
To be found
With the Gods all gone
And the souls making sounds

It's far beyond a star, it's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there, watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing

Sittin' on the dock of the bay,
Watchin' the tide roll away,

We were sailing along on Moonlight Bay
We could hear the voices ringing
They seemed to say
"You have stolen her heart, now don't go 'way"
As we sang love's old sweet song on Moonlight Bay

Rock the boat
(Don't rock the boat baby)
Rock the boat
(Don't tip the boat over)
Rock the boat
(Don't rock the boat baby)
Rock the boat
Ever since our voyage of love began
Your touch has filled me like the rush of the wind
And your arms have held me safe from a rolling sea
There's always been a quiet place to harbor me
Our love is like a ship on the ocean
We've been sailing with a cargo full of
love and devotion.

Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low
And the flick’ring shadows softly come and go
Though the heart be weary sad the day and long ,
Still to us at twilight comes love’s old song
Comes love’s own sweet song

Sorry, Simulpost. To continue from madmum:
I am sailing
I am sailing
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing stormy waters
to be near you to be free.

Love that song MM
Don't know why, there's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Since my love and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time

I'm singin' in the rain
Just singin' in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again.
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love.

Temperature's rising
Barometer's getting low
According to all sources
The street's the place to go
Cause tonight for the first time
Just about half past ten
For the first time in history
It's gonna start raining men
It's raining men
Hallejulah
It's raining men
Amen
I'm gonna go out
I'm gonna let myself get
Absolutely soaking wet

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain,
Telling me just what a fool I've been,
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain,
And let me be alone again,
The only girl I care about has gone away,
Lookin' for a brand new start,
But little does she know that when she left that day,
Along with her she took my heart,
Rain please tell me now does that that seem fair?
For her to steal my heart away when she don't care?
I can't love another when my heart's somewhere far away.
Rain won't you tell her that I love her so,
Please ask the sun to set her heart aglow,
Rain in her heart and let the lovely news start to grow,
Oh listen to the falling rain,
Pitter patter.............

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
I'm singing and dancing in the rain

I love that old pop song lapis - the way the falling quavers imitate the pitter-patter of falling rain
LadyC - well it is a different verse...
Rain rain go away,
Come again another day.

Yes Jab, the Cascades back in (aargh!) 1963 released a classic gentle teenage angst love ditty capable of being effective to non-teenagers like me! (only one more year now then I'll be able to join that club)
When the rain comes,
They run and hide their heads,
They might as well be dead,
When the rain comes.......

It's old age creeping on Sorry...
Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May.
So if it's raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn't raining rain, you know, (It's raining violets,)
And where you see clouds upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds of daffodils,
So keep on looking for a blue bird, And list'ning for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.

Hello Lady C. Yes in one year's time I'll be a teenager!
What do you mean you don't believe me!
The nice thing about getting old is that you know it happens to everyone, eventually.
Now, rain......Can't remember the words but there was.............
A Rainy Night in Georgia.

I'll be with you in apple blossom time,
I'll be with you to change your name to mine.
One day in May, I'll come and say,
"Happy the bride the sun shines on today."
What a wonderful wedding there will be,
What a wonderful day for you and me,
Church-bells will chime, you will be mine,
In apple blossom time.

Is it me? I don't get the connection there - maybe it's that age thing again
No worries lapis - it's not as bad as you thin
I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm, I'm as jumpy as
puppet on a string
I'd say that I had spring fever, but I know it isn't spring
I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented, like a nightingale
without a song to sing
O why should I have spring fever, when it isn't even spring

[link with 'spring fever']
Never know how much I love you, never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me, I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever - when you kiss me, fever when you hold me tight
Fever - in the the morning, fever all through the night.
