I just bought a mobile phone after much wringing of hands. There were genuine reasons, but never mind. My mission is to prove to myself that a mobile can be used in a non-annoying way. It is possible (no, really) to locate a phone with non-head-shattering rings, and also to turn down the volume. And push the "discreet" button... I'm sure it can be done. It just needs some working on.

Bagelmouse has just confessed to purchasing a mobile phone after much wringing of hands. I trust that the hands were set to wring with a suitably subtle and unobtrusive tone.
