h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*wanders down the street looking lost* where would she be? *blackhood flies off and lands on a white house at the end of the street* what is that bird doing now? *walks towards the house*

*sitting with her mother sipping tea.. Lil recognises the call of the falcon..*

Blackhood!.. Ben cannot be far away...

Oh.. I hope he won't try to follow his bird here!

*whistles blackhood* why wont he come back? *rumages through his bag for scraps* somthing doesnt feel quite right here....*finds scrap for blackhood* come on blackhood! *sits down on the road in despair* i give up, look theres food here if you want it

*Lil looks out of the window and sees Ben walking away*

*sighs*.. Thank you Lord.. please look after him..


*turns and once more resumes her conversation with her mother*

*rolls himself a cigarette, and watches blackhood walking along the rooftop*

*Still talking to her mother*

I don't understand how I came to be in the realm of the Thingites, but they were very kind to me.. and my parents.. my adoptive parents.. they looked after me so very well, they had no children of their own.. I was their only child.

I was never told how I was found.. although my parents did say I was adopted.. and that I was very special..

*falls to her knees in front of her mother*

You are my mother, I can see that ...

*Her mother strokes her face and holds Lil close for the first time in 29 years*

*blows smoke rings and strokes his beard* somthing has happened here, i have only been away a few days, but feel as though somthings changed...*blackhood still larks about on the roof*

im off now blackhood, i need to check the animals. come back when your ready.*leaves scraps on ground*

*Both women cry in each others' arms*..

*Gradually her mother was able to tell Lil of her true status in Restite. That she is in fact fifth in line to the throne, being the Kings' cousin three times removed*


*Lil gasps at the thought of that..* The King and I are cousins?

*blackhood swoops down, lands in the doorway and shreiks loudly*

*Runs to the door and scoops up Blackhood and holds him close to her necklace*

*She looks at Ben as she closes the door.. with sorrow in her eyes*

*blackhood quickly calms down and nuzzles his beak into lady lil*
*lady lil realises she only imagined seeing ben, then notices a smouldering cigarette butt*

Silly bird... *she strokes him.. calming him*

His master loves this bird... *wraps the necklace around the bird*

*blackhood sits calmly as lady lil wraps the necklace around him*

*The old woman falls asleep in her armchair.. as Lil sits back and gently cradles Blackhood in her arms*..

*blackhoods breathing slows down as he becomes more accustomed to lady lils heartbeat*

*She feels the birds calming down.. and gradually they both drift off to sleep*

Drives back up the streets, gets out of his car* Shes wise isnt she lil, are you upset, i didnt want to be in the way of anything, remember to always have that stone with you when you enter. Do you wish to go home now?

Ah you are sleeping. *Picks up lady lil which wakes up the bird who sits on lils lap as paul carries her out to her car*

she is lovely... I wish I had known of her sooner... been able to let her know who I am.. </>


Paul.. I have given the falcon the necklace.. it was almost dying on the doorstep...
