A Conversation for Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Finally got the muse on me to write a brand new article.
This article is both specific and general, including information about the poem in the title and a brief overview of the Romantic movement. I think it might be an interesting entry for people who have never read the poem or for those that have read it without knowing any of the historical perspective.
The poem, I hasten to add, is out of copyright now so it's inclusion is legally safe.

This entry is good. It's your choice, but I think it might be better reworked as an entry on Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The background on the Romantic Movement fits in better from that perspective, you could quote some lines or stanzas from some of his other works (such as "water, water, everywhere, but not a drop to drink" from R.o.A.M.) and you could still finish it with a focus on his "most famous" work. (Though Rime of the Ancient Mariner may compete with it for that title.) This would primarily I think mean a reordering of the paragraphs, with perhaps some tweaking of the sentences, and adding some more information about his other works.
As is, the information on the Romantic Movement, and Coleridge's other works seem out of place, if the entry is supposed to be on Kubla Khan.
(I was surprised to discover a few months or so ago that Coleridge wasn't already in the Guide...he does play a key role in one of DNA's Dirk Gently novels. I put him myself on a long "to do list", I am glad I can take him off now. I wrote an entry you might be interested in, called the Hartley Effect about Coleridge's son. (Mostly meant for humor, but I am considering writing something more serious about Hartley for the edited guide) http://www.h2g2.com/A318269 )

Brilliant advice, thanks.
Will have a go at reworking the article this weekend.
Liked the Hartley effect.

Nice one. I agree with Gavroche that the focus of the article isn't completely on Kubla, but I think it'd probably be better accomplished by keeping the text about Colerige, but removing the subheading on the romantic movement and most of it's text entirely. Not that it's worthless crud at all, but I think it'd make a brilliant entry all on it's own. Then you could whack in a little bit of background and some quotes of verse from the main offenders, I mean, instigators.
I think you've got one great entry here and the basis for another great one. Top work!

That is the primary choice...trimming and making multiple shorter entries, or organizing the information into one long entry.
I prefer longer entries since:
1) All the information is in one place, so its a lot easier for people to find
2) When people see longer entries, they go "Wow, here's a lot of useful information." When they see shorter entries they often wish there was more.
3) The entry only has to go through the submission process once.
All this depends on the information in the entry actually relating to each other. Naturally, long, rambling entries aren't better just due to their length. However, I feel the information in this entry does all belong together, just that it would be better rearranged, with more added about Coleridge's other work.
In short: If DickieP has the information at-hand, I would prefer an entry on Coleridge and his works to a smaller entry just on one poem.

I have my Complete Coleridge standing by at the ready.
I think this is a good idea as I started writing the piece assuming that Coleridge would have had an entry. That'll learn me...

I recommended the entry as it is, and it was accepted. This naturally doesn't preclude you writing an additional entry on Coleridge's other work; and if you wish to, I strongly encourage it.
To quote the editors: "You'll be glad to know that we think this entry is great, and it has now gone into the Editorial Process for future inclusion in the Edited Guide. When it does get into the Edited Guide, we will email to let you know, but please bear in mind it can take a while for entries to go through the sub-editing system."
Congratulations
