Gavroche
Gavroche is a character from the novel, Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo. (Made into a musical by Boubil & Schonberg) Today the word, "Gavroche", in French means approximately "mischievous child". However, this word did not exist prior to Hugo's novel.
I am American, and my knowledge of French doesn't extend much beyond "Merci, Moi, and French Toast." However, despite having to read everything in translation, I am obsessed with Hugo in particular, and French literature in general. You can find out even more about these subjects, and a little about me at my personal webpage. You can email me as well.
