Hi Dan,
I feel I should, and I do apologise for my 'over harsh' criticism of your posting. You are, as far as I am concerned, very welcome on this site.
So, there I go again! Being an oldie, and fairly new to this 'on line' game, I have never read that famous book, but my sons read it over a number of times! So I didn't get the subtlety of your humour. That's just my ignorance showing through again!
I am sure you are fond of Wareham and its people, having been born there. One couldn't fail to be, its a lovely region altogether in my opinion.
Take no damned notice of my negative comments earlier up the postings.
Incidentally, we are off to Charmouth in mid-summer!

No worries mate.
Just out of interest...Haven't read the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy?
By the way, there's nothing wrong with being an oldie, my parents are both a lot older than me and I get on very well with them.
I actually taught my Dad to program web pages about five years ago and he was sixty or so at the time, he still does them now if you happen to be in to fishing.
Not sure you should throw words like "humour" at the stuff I write, but thanks anyway.
I won't take any offence, I often say things to my wife that I immediately regret! Thanks for the apology.
Cheers
Dan

No Dan, never read 'Hitchhiker's...' at all, never appealed to me, even though I am very interested in astronomy, and science in general amongst many other things. I'm not into science fiction, nor fiction in general. I prefer biography and particularly autobiography, and to read the science journals such as New Scientist and Scientific American. I also like to read the history of science.

Good entry. On a stylistic level, from what I remember when I used to be a sub-editor, I think it's best that you don't do links from headings - can't remember exactly what but I think it would make certain things malfunction if you were using certain skins, or possibly a PDA. Would you be able to place the links elsewhere in the text?

Hi SpoonMan
Looking good, but you have a lot of links in there, that are not Edited Guide Standard.
We don't use "POPUP="1" or "TITLE="
All h2g2 linked Edited Entries should be:
Title
And the 'A's in the A-number should always be a capital A
For external links:
Title
You might find 'Using Approved GuideML in the Edited Guide' ~ A264520
useful.
Oh, and please remove the graphics, no graphics allowed in Entries in Peer Review.

The graphics thing, by the way, is because each graphic in an h2g2 Edited Guide entry has to be unique to that Guide Entry. The thing is, what you've got on there will already have been used somewhere else.
But on the plus side, if (when) this is picked for the Edited Guide, there is a fair chance a new graphic will be commissioned to illustrate it.

Don't know how to ask without sounding like I'm whinging but why are my links/pictures/etc. for this entry no good when I've already had my Tobago entry A4351466 recommended.
I wrote them both exactly the same way (force of habit really, I'm a bit of a web programmer), and there were no comments about the coding or images.
I will change the bits and pieces you suggested but do think it's a bit odd that there should be discrepancies in how individual guide entries are accepted?
Sorry to moan, I'll get on to the alterations.
Dan

Well, I just had a very quick look at your Tobago Entry (Didn't resd it, just looked at visual appearance).
There are no images in it, but I did notice that you've got hyperlinks in the Headers - which isn't allowed.
Now it's been recommended, I guess the Editor will take those out.

... also I just noticed that 'Tobago' was your first Entry, and Scouts etc tend to be a bit more 'forgiving' on first Entries. It's not really a variation in standard.

Oops there is an image in 'Tobago'. I guess the Editor will take tahat out as well. As I say, Scouts tend to be more forgiving on first Entries, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned it.

Hiya Dan, I didn't read your 'Tobago' Entry, if I had, and looked at the coding too, I would have posted similar to what I did here, maybe no-one looked at the coding in that Entry, one that slipped through the net.
A Sub-editor will adjust your 'Tobago' Entry to fit with the Edited Guide Standards before they send it back to the Editors.

Just realised...I totally forgot to say that I changed the code, took the pictures out, etc.
I hope it's okay now!
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!
h2g2 auto-messages Posted Aug 16, 2005
Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
