A factual article on the famous 'cat in the box' experiment. I submit it for your humble approval.

This is a very good article about the Schroedinger cat. It is well structured and explains the problem/paradoxon very clearly.

I really think this article is woth being in the Edited Guide.

Yeah, I like it too. I note that it's already marked 'recommended', though, (submitted before the change in system?) - so it'll more than likely end up with a sub-editor whatever happens.

Thank you both. Just when I start to think Peer Review is bunk, I get feedback. smiley - smiley If you liked it as much as it sounds like you did, why not share it with your friends? The more people refining an entry, the better.

Again, thanks.

It's probably worth looking at the forums for your articles, 'cause I seem to recall commenting on them in some detail after your plea for attention smiley - smiley

What's the picture? It's not showing up.

Very nice entry.

Very good. Definately a worthy entry.

Just fix the image, pease.

huh. That picture USED to work. I'll give it a look to see if I can fix it.

heh. Screwed that one up didn't I? Oh well, I moved the clipart to another server and all should work fine now (works from here, so...)

And, not to disappoint you all, but the other picture's another cat. Original, no?

Nicely written, clear and easy to understand.

My nit: dependent, not 'dependant'

Groovy article - I enjoyed it very much. Can't see any problems with this one getting into the guide! Perhaps you could turn your hand to writing more articles on the paradoxes and nuances of quantum physics?

My day for submissions isn't for a few weeks - is there another scout out there who fancies submitting this? smiley - smiley

I'd looked for entries on Schrodinger's cat... I didn't find this one, presumably because you've been picky enough to use "ö" instead of "o". This is perhaps worth bearing in mind if/when (preferably the latter) it goes into the edited guide.

Personally I don't agree about the inclusion of the Tree in the forest bit - I don't think that really relates to the quantum theory stuff that the thought experiment is supposed to illustrate.

Could put in a little biog bit about Schrodinger too.

Okay, that's my 5 cents worth anyway.

If any of you are interested in talking about the importance of the falling tree as applied to Quantum Physics, check out the forum below. I didn't mean to, but apparently I've sparked a bit of a controversy surrounding the whole taoist thing... http://www.h2g2.com/F49436?thread=68243 I expect I'll see you there. Triv

Sorry, another picky point - in line 1 you've got Shrödinger's, missing the 'c'. Nice article.

njan (afh)

A well-set-out article which (unusually, for articles on this sort of topic) is concise, to the point, and (as a bonus) the author knows what he or she is talking about (with one exception that really should be modified in the final version, whoever edits the document, that being "until someone takes a blowtorch to the box, the cat and the contents of the box are in a superimposed state, in both positions, and also neither at the same time. The confusing part comes when you realise that from the cat's perspective, you're doing the same thing, and this is where the the experiment becomes hard to visualise". There is more I could add, but it's complicated quantum physics that isn't particularly relevant. Yes, all in all, a good article. Yes, I reccommended it. smiley - smiley
