A Conversation for Volunteer to be a Guru
An owl guru? A novel idea...
OwlofDoom Started conversation Mar 1, 2003
Hello all you mystical mentor-types...
I have already volunteered myself to be a <./>SubEditor</.>, but I can't help thinking that I would enjoy the whole guru thingy too.
I spend almost all my life (it seems) on h2g2 now , as it's probably one of only about five websites in the world that are any good at all (and it conforms to Tim Berners-Lee's original vision of the worldwide Web) and I figure that my knowledge of websites, design principles and the inner workings of DNA (I'm a sucker for help pages - I'm one of these os who just reads FAQs for everything, for no reason) would be useful in both helping people who don't know the stuff, and providing ideas for new bits of the DNA software.
Well, if you're interested - I'd love to be a guru!

Presumably then you've found all the technical stuff on the Hub... it's great, isn't it?
You'll probably have to wait for Monday before Mina comes along and finds this.
But then you knew that already, didn't you?

But even though you're not a <./>guru</.> yet, you can start right now, and hang around U285 to help the gurus out, and show Mina that's you're ace guru material.

Make that U295 (or MP295) and it would be even more helpful!

As long as you are dedicated and willing to learn you will get in eventually, don't worry about that, it's just whether you will have to go away and think/read about a few things first. Just don't give up! :D

Remember the golden rules of Guruing:
1) be nice to Mina
2) praise Mina
3) answer questions in a witty, comprehensible manner
4) give Mina extravagent gifts
Stick to those rules and you'll be fine.
