A certain Babel-17 suggested a putting competition at the green just below the Monument...

Might be fun, but I'm not sure they aren't putting a dirty great tent there for the duration of the Festival...

Recognition update: I'll definitely be wearing the white "Willow" Tee-shirt, as I ironed the design on earlier today. I'll probably also be carrying a chocolate-brown hand-towel called "Terry"... Also, I may have a small entourage of prospective researchers, if the weather's good...
I've been fairly ill and breathless for the last week or so, so I'll bow gracefully (well, OK, clumsily) out of any energetic passtimes or long walks...

If my H2G2 T-shirt arrives today, I shall be wearing that. I'll probably be in the vicinity of the Scott monument from around 1:45pm or so, since my train to Edinburgh arrives at either 1:03pm or 1:35pm, depending onwhich train I happen to catch in Glasgow.
Oh, and if it starts raining, I'll be the one standing, looking really soaked, since I don't have an umbrella.
I just hope my t-shirt gets here today.

Of course, a *really* savvy researcher would have thought to put a "Somebody Else's Problem" field around everything *but* themselves...

Er, since I live in Edinburgh, I guess I should come along and have a look-see.
Some late questions:
Is there a specific location in Princes Street Gardens (Bandstand)?
Do we have a plan for somewhere to go if it's pissing with rain (pub)- it's been doing this off and on most days in Edinburgh over the last week?
Can I run away if you are all really scary (bit shy, you see)?

Of course you can run away.
But do come and say hello first. We're meeting on the princes street gardens side of the Scott Monument at 2pm tommorrow. I guarentee that I'm going to be milling about aimlessly looking lost and trying to decide wether or not to approach a group of other lost looking people, incase they just turn out to be another random group of lost looking people.
A very wise (or perhaps very odd person) said once that you should do at least one thing every day that scares you.

The plans are what you will find in the forum lists around here. There might, of course, be some idea sprouting between researchers in other foras, but WYRIWYG in these foras.
And hey, would you be afraid of this face? http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/4563/LitlMe2.gif

Yes. Very afraid.

You'll be the one in the pram then?
And yes I'd be terrified if you're this young and can use H2G2 forums.

Wel, okay then, that was about 23 years ago, but I thought I'd go easy on you. Nowadays, it's not a pleasant sight. Even less pleasant than the pic you've seen so far.

So where are you going to be at about 3 pm? Sorry about this, but I do not want to go down to Edinburgh, miss you (as meeting you all is the point of the day) and then having to wait 6-7 hours to the train home (not my idea of fun

Nice pic, Lost in Scotland (what on earth do we call you for short?!) BTW - where did you get the Star Trek Voyager uniform? And I don't know if you're a boy or a girl either, not that it matters because we'll still be happy to meet you!
Right, Princes street gardens side of the Scott monument tomorrow at 2 o'clock. We could always do what tour guides do at an airport and have a board with "H2G2" on it which somebody holds up in the air. Of course, it will have to have a towel attached. In fact, I'll try to be there on time and do just that so that the shy amongst you can suffer minimal embarassment. Until you see what a decrepit old git I am.

And if anyone sees anyone else walking around in an h2g2 t-shirt, force them to join us - at gunpoint if necessary.
