Oh yeah, I saw this at the cinema, my dad took me because it was an A (For you youngsters that was the old rating system, these days it's classed as a PG) and he wanted to see it too

"I've got a question."
"What is it?"
"It's an interrogative statement used to determine knowledge, but that's not important right now..."

"Can you go to the cockpit"
"What's that"
"It's the room at the front of the plane behind the curtain, but that's not important right now"

Virgin or HMV usually have it going cheap.
The second one had its moments; not least:
"The computer's gone mad and taken over the ship, we're a million miles off-course, out of control and on a collision course with the Sun"
"Are you telling us everything?"
"No, we're also out of coffee."
*Mass panic erupts in the cabin*

I hired it from Blockbuster, it's been ages since I've seen it, I'd forgotten about the tribute to Jaws at the beginning

It's a very important film in popular cinema history...
Its easy to forget it was the first of the 'silly' films - without it there'd be no Austin powers, Dodgeball, something about mary, meet the fockers ect..
If you into it you should check out The Kentucky Fried Movie - Abrahams and Zuckers earlier sketch-based film.

True, my ex was a big fan of Blazing Saddles, I couldn't see the funny side of it but I did like Robin Hood Men in Tights and Spaceballs

"Yes sir Major Phillip assole"
"And his cousin"
"He's an asshole too sir"
"How many assholes we got on this ship"
[All crew] "Yo"
"I knew it I'm surronded by assholes"

What films did Jerry Zucker do between Airplane! and Rat Race? I've heard his mother, Charlotte Zucker, features in a lot of them, but I've only really watched those two carefully.

Both the Zucker's were in Airplane they're hte bloke who's guiding the plane with the lollypop things and the bloke who asks him directions

And their mother is the make up lady.
Looking at imdb (which I don't know why I didn't do in the first place) confirms it - she did indeed have cameos in most of their films.
