Pink Fluffy Duck Posted Feb 18, 2005
we are new here, and would be very grateful if you could provide us a haven for a short time whilst we find out feet in here, tbh i would have been here ages ago if i had know about it, we have no intention of being disrespectful our of stepping on anybody’s toes! all we ask is that we can live in here and take baby steeps into your well established and wide community, we are all a bit scared and we need to be together!
many thanks

Hi Nic - it is a tad confusing but all the free drink is not helping my routfinding skill.

Hello PDF,
Thanks for your reply. You can of course live in here and take baby steps as individuals...and we'd especially love it if you could help us by writing some stuff...
And I think someone just pointed out that there's a very well-stocked free bar...
However, we can't allow the setting up of a wholescale 'Sportdaq' area, that will emulate the sort of discussion that takes place on those other boards, simply as it just isn't practical or possible in here, for the reasons given.
But...if you'd like to chat away as individuals in the wider h2g2 Community, with the recognition that this isn't one of the other boards transplanted in a new environment then that'd be great.

Hi Natalie
Sorry if you have had a sudden rush of homeless waifs and strays. It is not (and never has been) our intention to upset anyone. Are you saying we can stay here provided we do not mention Sportdaq/Celebdaq
issues or just showing us the door full stop? Is it compulsory to mention HGTTG?

Hello Natalie
I’m sorry you really are going to have to bear with me, my understanding is that Disco Stu has created this little mini board, for us! That right? And your saying that we can’t have this board because it is called sportdaq? That right? so what if we changes it to a general type board? Like “the lounge” “the public house” or something? Obviously we want to integrate into the community and everybody is welcome in here, we love new peeps as much as anybody, we don’t want to appear to be closed and un-welcoming to anybody, would this be a better arrangement?

hello!
How is everyone? What do you think of the new place? That odd thing in the right hand corner with the circles confuddles me , but i'm sure i'll get used to it!
Btw, i'm new (braving the world of posting for the first time). i only ever eavesdropped on conversations on t'other board!

hello new bod!
pull up a chair and don your best straight jacket, fell free and help yourself to the bar
the one good thing about this is it has prompted lots of lurkers to post, not a bad thing at all, i just wish it could be under better circumstances!
your gonna have to bear with us for a little while, we are involved in negotiations with the lovely peeps in charge of this board, i think we can stay but i'm really not sure at this point!
we will have to wait and see!
have fun in the meantime tho babe!

Hello there all,
Thank you for your questions. I'd just like to say, this is is a new and unexpected situation to us as well, so please bear with us!
In answer to your questions, luckily we're not saying that you have to mention HHGTTG in every post (though perhaps every tenth? )
All we're saying is, this isn't the 'new' Sportdaq or Celebdaq, and we can't have the sort of discussion about er...delicate matters in here that you've been used to on those boards. This site is reactively moderated, and to allow that sort of discussion we'd have to step up to either pre- or post-moderation. (Currently we only have pre-moderation in force for users who have consistently broken the House Rules, which are here: A516034). We don't want that to change - it wouldn't be fair on the rest of the Community.
So please...go out and about, spread joy...tell people what you like. But please observe the Country Code at all times.
Natalie
