In classic GOO you can't see the fish's tails. I haven't found a Who's Online list in classic GOO and I use that a lot.

Wigfiddle...look at my page. I have a who's online link. I'm using classic goo. With classic goo you put in yourself in guideML though.

Redbeard, thanks for your help, I have finished playing around with the page now, with my limited brain power it took a while to add the links on the bottom of it.
Nice to see the new members, we're getting fairly busy now, I like to see that.

Can you make a link to the Ask h2g2 and Feedback Forum? Because those buttens aren't there in classic GOO either.

Count me in too! There's no way I'm going to change to something resembling AltaVista for a little improvement in speed.

Mina! The new content looks excellent. I like that little trick with using a specific skin. The white text is a little sneaky. You CAN read it in Alabaster if you highlight the text, or your browser overides background and/or text color.

For myself, I am not anti-alabaster. I just like Classic Goo better. Who knows? There may be a future skin I prefer over Goo.

What needs to be said is that Classic Goo is just a part of the H2G2 culture. For all of us who have been here before the 'upgrade' Goo was all there was. Its part of the identity of h2g2 that we came to love.

The fact of the matter is, that when you are writing for, or reading, the Earth Version of THHG, staring into the big blue void is perfectly suited. It fits with the aim and atmosphere of the place. Heck, it practically *is* the atmosphere of the place.
Alabastard pales in significance next to the legend that is Classic Goo. We have to save the Big Blue. We must stamp down Alabastard! WE MUST LET ME JOIN THE CLUB *g*.

So, shall I try asking Peta to link to it? Someone said that it may hutr the tehnical guys feelings after they've spent so long on designing Alabaster - but as anyone's free to have an Alabaster fan club, I don't think that's a real problem. We're a legit H2G2 movement!

Alabaster is a good skin - much better than the layout for most sites. But it's not Classic Goo! Classic Goo makes coming to H2G2 like entering another world. Alabaster is just another site, although it is a good site.
