can I work up some curriculum and submit it for approval? I was thinking of classes like anger management, vegitarianism 101, and ghost writing. also, we need a sign.

to earn a degree in Monster U., a researcher would have to perform certain tasks within H2G2. For instance, In ghostwriting 101, a researcher must a) contribute 2 posts to clive the ostrich's h2g2 storytime, b)write a short story, c) comment on 2 stories(Found in h2g2 Fiction central) d) contribute to one or more joint writing projects or write one guided entry outside of his user's page.
once he's done this, he posts a link to monster u.'s page, and he will recieve credit.
work could e basically the same for associate, bachelors and masters degrees. for the associate he would need 1 credit(one task of his choice), for a bachelor's,2 credits, for a masters, 3.
Arts and Monster-anities degree course requirements:to be sectioned out according to needs
Ghostwriting(list options to earn credits here)
Research " "
Literature(something like researching and writing a guided entry on one author of choice or posting comments on any of the 3 guided entries[list guided entries on famous authors])
poetry (comment on or write for one of the poetry pages
physical education(participate in one of the following activities[list of games, like mud wrestling or wacky races, with links to page])
science(list of scientific sites on the beeb, and a task list)
math(link to numbers games, like the 42 page run, i think, by the keepers)
elective (job related, like librarian for one of the many sites that support libraries)
ethics of human consumption 101 (a special course by us)
Anger management therapy(A visit to the thingite psychologist, maybe?)
citizenship(cast a vote or 2;examples for a mushroom smiley, for or against classic goo, post a comment in a discussion of the week, join a researcher's club for your area)
Polotics (easy enough to come up with requirements like join in a political debate or hold office in a club)
elective(art, craft, poetry,club chairman,ect.)
this way, many researchers would already meet many of the requirements.
a lot of researchers have monsters. were-creatures could study were-ology, which would include myths and lunar studies. the keeper of the thingite s might want to get a degree in forestry or gardening. I'd like a degree in the study of insects as the keeper of the thingite moths. Some weres, like garius Lupus, might want a degree in Law Enforcement or Criminology.
the best thing to do would be either to recruit them, and then design their curriculum according to their needs, or to poll people and see what their monsters would like. we may get no feedback, but it would be neat to have a general curriculum for arts and humanities, and for science.
we could also recruit researchers to be the head of a department. Clive, for example, could be the head of Philosophy.
some classes, such as P.E. and Anger Management, will be required of all degrees.
What do you think?

no telling. we'll get back to you next week with a more organised curriculum. then you can choose which ones you like and add to the list your own stuff. or not.

Indeed it is.
Some of our monsters, though, may not be quite up to the advanced level, so we don't want to exclude them from attending Monster Uni.

that's why we have a vocational training program. so far, I've got your bar for bartending and dance, and have made inquiries at athe muse laundry. It can be used for vocational ed., for business ed., and for a work-study programs for monsters who don't want to join the circus.

can't get any teachers lined up. oh, well, it was a nice idea. (they closed down the dancepace where dancer was going to teach)

Well, I'm sure we'll be able to find people to help later.
What we really need is a catchy slogan to go with the Uni.
Something like:
"Monster Uni: Studying That Gets It's Teeth Into You"
but better.

Hello? I reckon that I fulfil the requirements for your Literature degree... or do I have to do it all again?
U.
ex-Rambling. Thingite. Dog. Pythonist. Deceased. Posted Nov 14, 2001
wahoo! Blue bottle and Chiron have the final say, of course, but you shouldn't have to. That was the Idea; that monsters may already qualify.
You'll be our first graduate. You have to promise not to have your monster eat any humans, unless they're reeeely asking for it.

name him and give him his degree, and blue bottle or dragonfly will make it official. when I get a description of him/her/it, I'll post the name description, owner and degree on my page, and later we'll get it up on a guided entry. Could you head the literature department, pretty please? It'll probably entail letting applicants know what the degree requirements are, and then having them direct you to their entries/poetry/ect. Since I'm writing a guided entry and listing the requirements for the degrees we have discussed, just point them to it once it has been approved by D or BB.

Oooh, I'd love to... thank you... I'm on a year out at the moment, so I've got a reasonable amount of time on my hands.
Thanks for signing me guestbook, by the way...

Excellent!
I'd include a link to the sewers, as that's the monster's home, and perhaps even this:
Why not enroll at
Monster University

great, a table with our sign! Will do, and I've added yours and D's user I D in the editor's space.
thanks, I hoped you'd like it.. I also want to clean it up, add links to Dancer, St. Ultra Marine and myself, as well as the Sewer Spotters' club.
