A Conversation for Tinnitus and labrynthitis

Tinnitus

Hi Strange, I've suffered from tinnitus for years, ever since I was about 8, (I'm now 29), it gets better and worse depending on the situation, but it's always there! It's good to know I'm not the only one that suffers from it, as none of my friends have it, and so they don't inderstand what it's like. It has prevented me from sleeping at various times, and if my surroundings are fairly quiet then it drives me insane, I can try to ignore it but the more I do the louder it gets! smiley - grr

I'm lucky, I suppose, in that I only had labrythitis for a couple of months at a time for a couple of years, and then it went away, but it was utterly horrible!! smiley - wah

What coping strategies have you found to deal with it?

When I'm home I've always got to have to tv or music on, not loud but definitely distinctly audible! smiley - smiley And if I'm driving I've got to have the radio on, whether music or Radio 4, and when I go to bed I CANNOT have silence, or all I can hear is this really insistent ringing or buzzing noise! smiley - headhurts So it's radio 4 all the way, preferably the shipping forecast, because by the time they get to "Sole, Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea" I'm asleep!! smiley - zzz Which is a bit of a shame as Lundy is the one that affects where I live!! smiley - biggrin

I know you put this entry in a while ago, so have you got better since then? Hope so!! smiley - hug

L x smiley - rose
