I was just snoozing on the Beach, woke up feeling peckish and was pointed in this direction.
May I have battered haddock and chips with diet cola to take out, please?

*wonders off to the kitchens.... where sounds of cooking and klattering eminate, and soon returns with two plates...*
Here you go Caerwynn, one local haddock, proper chips and diet cole with the option of ice. 
And for you YK, one Cheeseburger with chips, as we don't sell "fries". Sorry.
And for your "friend"... a can of the afformentioned liquid.

However the same doesn't, to my knowledge, apply to using wines, beers or spirits in the preperation of food. For example it's very common to go into a restaurant and order a meat dish cooked in red wine....
Besides, this isn't America, this is in my Pond...
