Doubt anyone will read this, but here goes *^_^*...
Remember that not all metal bands just write about death and destruction blah blah blah. A lot of them do, especially nowadays when it's those pathetic American bands trying to think of the most fashionable thing to write about.
But some bands come out with pretty deep stuff. For example, Iron Maiden and Saxon. I mean, how many other genres can boast a song about a steam engine?!
And then, you have White Metal. But I'd rather not dwell on that...

Jeez, an old forum. How my tastes have changed in 5 months.
Today I have listened to Iron Maiden and The Number Of The Beast, both by my favourite Iron Maiden. And I was rocked. I can safely say that Maiden defy the stereotype of metal (as portrayed in this crap entry) whilst still being the best band in the biz. The power in these two albums is there, it leaps out of the speakers and knocks you flat!
Sure, other bands have the power, every hour. Slayer and Entombed spring immediatley to mind (see, I know band names!) However, what these guys lack, and what Maiden have in abundance, is TUNEFULLNESS. Iron Maiden can send you reeling whilst not making each song sound the same. Isn't that genius?
Saxon, meanwhile, where not quite as energetic as Maiden. Sure, Maiden mellowed out after Number Of The Beast, which is a shame, but they could still pull a hard hitter or two out of the bag when required.
I submitted a new Heavy Metal entry to replace this one, and it's marked "pending". I haven't checked it for a while though, I think it might still be rubbish
