Heavy Metal is in so way all about death and voilence only. It's better deemed just 'Metal'. If you meet any disciple of metal I'm sure they'll be very positive and generally cheeful. Metal is doing what you feel is right. It is in NO WAY 'not melodious' or anything similar. Almost all metal songs are great rhapsodies to be treasured. Take Gamma Ray's 'Lake of Tears' for example... this song prove ALL facts on the article as incorrect. Or take 'Where the Rain Grows' by Helloween, another example of metal at it's best.
So, this guide is generally inaccurate...

Actually as a Metal fan I would consider this entry pretty accurate... if it was written by a non-terran
To an outsider, it would be a pretty decent first impression of what is the most demanding music of the 20th century. I mean, you got to admit, within the 35 years of Metal, death and destruction ARE dominant themes. Satan IS a major figure. Long hair has been certainly a label factor.
So all in all, that is what Ford would write about Heavy Metal.
