*Jumps to his feet, the napkin goes flying and Akron runs for the gate room*

*Kat and Jack come FLLLYYYINNNGGG into the Mess Hall and skreech to a halt in front of the food hatches. Kat grabs two trays and puts them on the runners and looks up at Jack to see what he wants, flicking hair off her face and tentatively tugging at bandaging at the same time*

*smiles*

Well, it likely tastes all the same so what do we think looks nicest

*Kat rolls her eyes and grins before pointing at the spaghetti in tomato sauce, mushrooms, peppers etc.

They move off to a table and after a brief war with the wheelchair are safely tucking into food.

Kat fishes out the pencil which has been digging into her sweatshirt pocket and jots down a note before holding it up*

Jack...

"How have you been finding the base so far? Was the mission as you expected? Apologies for my rather dramatic outcome, that doesn't usually happen when I go off-world I promise."

Well and I apologise for yelling at you but I get paranoid sometimes

*shrugs and picks at his food thoughtfully*

It wasnt too far off what I expected, although I dont expect every mission to go quite so dramatically *grins stupidly* some easy ones would be good

"Well seeing as who knows what on earth is going on right above our heads right now...let's really really hope easy missions are coming because otherwise it means we've been invaded! So tell me a bit about your background, how did you end up here? What have you done before?"

*HE walks into the mess and grabs a plate, and walks over to the only table with people at it* Heloo, people. I am Jake Blaze, new head resercher for SG-1. I am looking for someone to give me a physical.

*Kat starts scribbling on a fresh sheet of paper...*

"First of all if you want a physical then be more polite. You would eventually get one anyway. As you can see I have been rather incapacitated for a while and so your physical has not been the top of my priorities. And you might want to get something to put on that plate before you try eating...china doesn't taste that great..."

*looks up at the new comer*

Be careful with her and physicals, shes good at diagnosing things you dont want to her

*grins wolfishly at Kat*

And the answer to your question is I'm an ex swat medic *pushes himself up from the table and goes to put his empty plate away*

<Play nice children, Kat what do you want to do with your character while you're away, relapse, R&R??>

*Nodds and goes back and grabs some food, sits down and eats slowly and thoughtfully*

"Jack's just mad that I've found something wrong with his heart...it's no big problem though as I keep telling him. It hasn't stopped him doing anything so far, I just want to sort it out eventually. "

*Kat smiles as she passes the piece of paper over, and then takes it back when he's finished reading*

"If Jack would be so good as to wheel me back to meds, then I'll be happy to do your physical for you later today. We have a few things we need to go over but I definitely promise to get your examination done today"

*Kat waves imperiously at Jack whilst grinning*

*a young man with a camera walks into the mess looking confident and cheery*

Hey, I'm Jeff Rodgers from The Times *he whips out a card* and I've been invited to come and take a look at the base, see what you all do, what you think about working here, maybe take a few pictures while I'm at it.

Any volunteers?

*A young female Lieutenant slips out of the mess very quietly and runs along the corridor to the nearest phone*

*The Colonel slips quietly into the Mess, grabs a cup of coffee and a sandwich and sits down at a table by the window*

*walks in and sits beside Reefgirl* (Whispers-"What's going on?")

*Jeff sits down at a table with some 'nice, fresh, young' airmen and starts chatting with them. He briefly shows them his ID pass before whipping out the notepad and scribbling as the airmen talk. They laugh and joke as they talk to him and he grins as they begin to open up with details of the officers on base and previous adventures*
