*This is a room filled with equipment for high energy physics, including a particle accelerator, a chromatograph, lasers, and other high-voltage equipment.*

*Major Scandrea and Captain HPB walk in.*

Here's your lab!

*looks and smiles* Nice!

It's big, anyone else working in here?

Only one or two at the moment, and those are mostly just cleaning up old projects. They've just undergone a huge reorginization at command, and a lot of our old research crew retired. Essentially, we're starting over from scratch.

Well, not /entirely/ from scratch!

*Opens a cabinet full of bound books.*

These are the projects that our other scientists were working on. Maybe there's something in here that grabs your interest?

*Pulls out a book and hands it to the Captain.*

Holo technology research?

Yeah- it was a shame what happened to Dr. Leifkowitz. Caught in the eye by one of his own lasers and blinded for life. Too bad, because we really could have used that technology.

Would you be interested in picking up where he left off?

Anything else?

*Shakes her head.*

Nothing really more that I can tell you. The sleeping quarters are in the barracks, and there's a recreation room. We will get called out on missions eventually, so it's best to be prepared.

Right.. right...

So what are you working on?

As of right now, I'm trying to figure out the best way to make a landslide happen. I'm a geologist by training and by trade, so they come to me when they want landforms analyzed to see if they are really landforms and not something hidden.

I also do a little geochemistry here and there. Eventually, I'd like to actually go to these planets and do some field work. My interest is and always has been in comparing Earth to other planets, and seeing if the same processes operate there.

There's a best way?

Well, there's an easiest way, if you take into account planes of weakness. And it would be helpful to know which way the darn thing is going to go!

That reminds me- I had better get back to my computer model. I'm your CO, so let me know if you need anything for your research, and I'll help you out.

*Salutes, and walks out of the room.*

Kat - From H2G2

*Jeff (who had been taking a quick break in a service maintenance tube after his sprint from the Gate Room) slinks into the lab and starts taking pictures of equipment. As there is nobody in the room he sits down in one of the chairs and relaxes back while he replaces his camera film yet again.*
