Saturday Afternoon: Yet another alternative...

Like a certain Reichsmarshall, whenever I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver. And the national Gallery sounds like a Culture with a capital 'C'... ( This is a joke. The National houses one of my all time favourite paintings...)
However, for those not wishing to partake of the wonders of the Sainsbury Wing (well worth it, though), I have already promised some ne'er-do-wells (you know who you are) a guided tour - well, we'll take you there and meet you in the pub afterwards - of the epicurean delights of Borough Market.
The added bonus is that the pub does food (as does the market - best burgers ever) and is within walking distance of the Bell Book and Candle.
Feel free to ask questions, hurl abuse or anything else you want in this thread. I mean if nobodies interested, then fair enough. I'm going anyway...

So, it'd be a wonder through the market, pick up a < descend on a pub, drink eat doof doof doof food then bell book and canlde over to?

Well, it's a distinct possibility, lets put it that way. If the BB & C aren't doing food, you're gonna be stuffed for options in that part of town on a Saturday, because there won't be any. So eating before going there would seem to be logical, whatever you intend to do in the afternoon...

Yep, certainly make sense from that point of view, I know I'll want to stuff my face with fode at some point so wht time you thinking of starting off at the Market?
Saturday Afternoon: Yet another alternative...
GreyDesk Posted Dec 12, 2004
This sounds like an interesting alternative
I've done the National Gallery so many times before, that there isn't much left to surprise me. Also if there is a whole bunch of us wandering around the gallery, you can't really talk to people as, well, it's a gallery and everyone seems to keep shtum in those places.

Oh Bugger, organisation.
I'm guessing anytime after 12 noon is good for me. Give me time to get up, cycle various ne'er-do-wells through the bathroom etc and into London. Meeting place?
Probably a mainline London station or a Tube station. London Bridge is the nearest to the matket, which is only one stop down from Bank, so is easy to find, as well as being a mainline station...

London bridge; tha a tube or rail station? think I can get direct there from Kingx X on circle or ... whatever that other one is called
Saturday Afternoon: Yet another alternative...
Stealth "Jack" Azathoth Posted Dec 12, 2004
London Bridge has a tube and mainline... But I think the exits are completely seperate, so we need to make sure no-one gets confused as to which one there s'posed to meet at...

Oh.... but I'm so good at confussion I'd probably come in on the tube, from Kings X, so I'd get someone to meet me near the tube I'm going to put a note at the bottom of the meet page in a week or so, offering people who want it my mobile no, I'll get people to mail me and then I can mail em all back at once those who want it

Anymore for anymore on this idea. I'd suggest meeting at London Bridge Tube station at about 12.30.
I would suggest that people take advantage of 2lgs phone number. London Bridge tube is fairly large as i recall and may have more than one entrance...

Borough Market is a food market - it attracts independant food sellers from all the country selling anything from Sauages to geren tea.
For leather jackets you want Camden, probably on a sunday...
So far it looks like You and pete, plus of course SLG and myself.
